Do you regret flipping your SubC?

Curious to hear how members that have flipped a SubC are getting on.

Do you regret it?

Why did you flip?

What did you end up with and why?

Are you looking to add it again to your collection at some point?

I had a SubC and traded it for a BLNR.

It’s the best watch move I’ve ever made and love the BLNR. Whilst the SubC was a great watch it just felt “boring” and now I always buy watches with a bit of colour (Blnr, JC, Hulk, Pepsi).

The traditionalists can’t see past a black sub but I’ve not looked back and don’t miss mine.

totally off topic, but one of the things I enjoy here is observing the contrasts between the American & British versions of the language.

A proper yank would never substitute whilst for while, lest he be accused of putting on airs. And whilst colour may be the more colourful spelling, we prefer the more efficient color. Never use 3 vowels when 2 will suffice.

Curious why you have Jimmy Garner (was a long time friend of my Dad's) in your Avatar.

Pretty simple, I think the Rockford Files and the character Garner played are both among the best that ever aired on a network television series. The license plate on his famous gold Firebird was 853-OKG, supposedly representing August 1953 (his 1st paid acting gig) and Oklahoma-Garner to remind him where he came from.

Obviously I have personal knowledge of him, but it always seemed as though he was the genuine article...a Korean war veteran, married for 50+ years, a man's man.

I know he wore Tag in the Rockford Files, and that it was probably his personal watch, so it has nothing to do with being a Rolex enthusiast. Must've been very cool to have a legendary actor pop by your home now and then.

It always interests me too.

We have close American friends and are there at least once a year. It can be funny to use phrases regularly used here and be met with blank expressions lol.

Colour vs color is just one example. I’m pretty sure there’s honour vs honor, glamour vs glamor and others where the “u” is added for us and left out for you.

At least we understand each other pretty well

The English love to shove unnecessary letters into words, the worst one I've come across is Lord Wriothesley, which is pronounced Risley. Yacht is also pretty superfluous.

I wouldn’t consider it a flip... but after owning my LVc for 2.5 years I sold it in a momentary lapse of reason to raise funds for a 5712.

And here we are a few months later and guess what’s back in the stable?

Got two subc right now, one 116618 and one 116610.

Never owned a sub, but I did regret selling my 16600 SD. So I bought the 116600 SD4K earlier this year.

Well, previously I thought that It was a big mistake to sell my previous ND. Now I start to consider that it was the right choice. I like very much the 6 digit piece, and fits me better + Glidelock is perfect.

The ND, to me, is the only one I miss.

I do still have the bracelet tho. So I’m not complaining at all

But what a watch. Clean and classic.

Clean and classic for sure. No doubt about it. To me it’s what sets it apart from the date version

Not like I haven’t tried to get away from it. I’ve tried BLNR’s EXPII’s a SD4K...even tried going back to 5 digit a handful of times. Came close to a DJ 41 on Jubilee last month. All of the above are great watches. I prefer a Submariner as my go to.

If you miss the 114060 you know what must be done

I came close to doing it a few times but never did, it was my first rolex and has a lot of sentimental meaning to me!

nope.

While I like them and appreciate all that they are, I am happier with the 14060M it got moved for.

The way I see it is that the pre 6 digits are classy tool watches still showing the original pedigree - I felt the 114060 was more or less a robust fashion statement.

It's not the case in reality but its how I felt. I'm odd in the since that my ideal sub would have matte everything on it.

Bought a Sub C last November and received my new BLNR a couple days ago. I contemplated selling the Sub C but at the end of the day I couldn't get myself to part with it. I have decided to keep both, especially with the SS shortage. I know I would regret it in the long run.

I’m in the process of selling a gold sub and potentially looking at a Batman. Daytona looks good but still too expensive

Sold my 114060 and bought a 116610ln to replace it. Should’ve done that from the beginning, don’t miss the Nd at all. Black SubC date is as classic as a modern Rolex can get and I don’t see myself selling it for a long time.
