Passing the time - 1st Rolex inbound

I bought my first Rolex, an Explorer II - S serial - from a member here (FNFZ4)

It is due for delivery tomorrow ... and I am really excited about it!

I 'missed out' on the experience of going to an AD and trying on several new ones, picking the one I wanted and walking out with a new one on my wrist. But I couldn't afford 'new' at this time, and I felt comfortable buying from Alfredo.

If you bought on-line and had to have it shipped, how did you pass the time while it was enroute?

Passing the time from sellers here usually mean 1-3 days max, just wear what you have now and enjoy the anticipation! Congrats!

I have a number of horological items en route from Japan by airmail, with the biggest Super Typhoon in Hong Kong's history supposedly just around the corner. I fear it's going to be a long weekend.

Congratulations in advance and welcome to the forum

One day isn’t so bad, in fact the anticipation is often just as fun as the incoming

Enjoy the unique feeling of anticipating the arrival of your Rolex. It's one of the little joys of this hobby, I think

Most sellers I'm aware of ship overnight. Hopefully it'll be on your wrist tomorrow.

My wait is over ... I'm at work, but my wife signed for the package today ... FedEx got it a day earlier than scheduled! Woo Hoo ....

I wish I could have taken a day off to go see it ... but I had some afternoon meetings and had to stay ... I don't think I can post photos yet ... but I plan to stick around and be a contributing forum member and will do a thread once I have the post count that allows it.

I will probably have some service questions too ... the seller (Alfredo) said it had an unknown service history when he got it ... so to establish a baseline, I might send it to an RSC sometime after the first of the year. I've heard Dallas is a good one

Congrats! Explorer II is a great watch, even though I just sold mine. Wear it in good health!

Congrats on the Explorer II! The waiting pain is all too real.

I just experienced it the first time with my Daytona (all prior purchases have made in-store). Needless to say I was refreshing the Fedex tracking page constantly during the ~20 hours leading up to arrival

Oh the agony! I got it, I like the condition, the seller is 100% reputable ... but the band is too short to actually wear ... so the seller is working with me on extra links ... :)

I've got pretty thick wrists - not freakishly large ... but 8" and that's bigger than many folks

Drink through it. Which is terrible advice, but it'll work. Congrats on the new watch!

I wish my AD would have had one, or one had been available to try on on the used market anywhere around me, but there isn't.

I have a wrist just under 8" and the 39/40 mm just looks too small on my wrist. The seller is taking it back and I'll pick up a 216570 when I find one. I'm sure the seller is probably understandably annoyed with me, and he is a straight-up guy, so even if the deal isn't completed, I can still recommend him!
