Newbie here so take it easy on me....:)

Yes, it is included. VAT in the UK is 15% and will stay at that for one year when it will then go back up to 17.5%.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
Thanks, been lurking around for few weeks and looking to buy a SS Daytona.

What a great site....

Wow, so said the retail price for SS Daytona is £5340 (not saying I can find one available but just assuming I do....) and since I'm from the states I'll be able to claim the 15% VAT refund when leaving UK.

£5340-£801(15% off)=£4359

£5340=$6505 USD

That's an incredible price.......

£5340 is the price of the Deepsea here in the UK but I thought the SS Daytona was £5700 - could be wrong though.

Hi and welcome.
Theoretically yes you are right but Daytona's are far more scarce from AD's here in the UK than they are in the USA.
good luck

Get one ASAP because the one year reduction to 15%vat is going to be clawed back by the government by hiking I believe to 17.5% vat in 2010 and 18.5% in 2011/2012. (Thats if the government last that long).

Best of luck with whichever watch you get and let us see the pictures

There are 2 prices. £5340 with the 78490 and £5730 with the 78590.

As Toph mentioned, SS Daytona's are not commonly found in the wild .......... IF EVER ... IMO. Much to our disappointment.
Your best bet is to contact a grey dealer when you're here or search the forums. You will still be expected to pay £6500 + on a BNIB from a grey dealer in most cases. Although my son just sold a 2 week old BNIB White dial SS Daytona for £6250 due to depressed climate and the fact that hardly anyone is buying SS Daytona's at the rate they once were.
Best of luck when you are over.

unfortunately you will not be getting the full 15% VAT refund if you buy from the AD outside the airpoprts. there will be a percentage of admin/process fees the AD will have to charge, so at the end of the day, you should be able to pocket aound 10% refund. it'd be even less if you want a cash refund at the airport - there is another process fee involved.

the best bet is getting one on the air side of the airport (after the security), with some haggling & you will also get a straight 15% VAT free price.

which terminal will you be flying out? there are a few Mappin & Webbs in Heathrow terminals. they were willing to do a good deal on most DJ models, not so much on the popular sports models....

Do the Mappin & Webb stores in LHR actually tend to have sports models in stock? I'm thinking of GMT-II to be specific?

Absolutely. Give them a ring before you fly out and they'll try to have or hold what you're after.

Will you still be able to claim VAT refund even if you buy the watch from a private seller instead of AD?
