116610LN Sub price
Saw that a brand new submariner with date is going above retail at davidsw. Any particular readon? Are they hard to come by at ADs currently? Is it bc Baselworld 2019 will be potentially unveiling sub with 3235 movement?

Supply & demand. 0 supply out there and huge demand.
And Baselworld, who knows. |

Same reason as all the other Rolex references, they're difficult to acquire.

Google "Rolex stainless steel shortage," then get comfy. You'll be reading for a while. Long story short: extremely limited supply of SS sports models at ADs coupled with massive demand spike (chicken-egg question there) has made the aftermarket go nuts. Has nothing to do with potential for new movement in 2019. Prices went up prior to Basel 2018, and people were wondering the same thing then.

I know a store that has at least 4 subc dates that are $7500 used... Don't believe the hype...

Full sets? Warranty? Age? Condition? Seller reliability? There are a lot of factors that go into used valuation. If they're full sets in excellent condition, intact warranty, and from a reliable seller, then $7500 is an excellent price in the current market; but without knowing the particulars, that's harder to assess. Most gray sellers are offering used, full-set SubC LN Dates for slightly above new MSRP at the moment. New ones are pushing $10k at the grays. Finding a new one at MSRP from an AD will require diligence and patience, and maybe some luck. That's not hype, just fact.

Some of the used I'm seeing online are newer than that, but some aren't. Overall, I'd say that's a good deal. I'm not sure if that makes the shortage "hype," of if that seller has some reason to undersell.
