Copenhagen and Stockholm

Headed on a trip soon to Denmark and Sweden and I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for stores that carry new or vintage Rolex. I live in San Francisco where I can drop by HQ Milton, or take a short drive to Fourtane. Anything comparable near the capital cities?

Copenhagen and Stockholm

Copenhagen:
ABSOLUTELY!
New:
Klarlund is a GREAT AD and they do Rolex service!
Are you looking for anything in particular?

Bucherer at Illum

Vintage:
Chrono.dk -by appointment in advance only. 1st class service and a multitude of wow-effect if you check out their web-site

Franz Jaeger & Me
- very nice boutique

ADs in Stockholm are very dry atm, although there is a non AD called 'Luxury Watches Stockholm' who has anything you can imagine (vintage and new). But prices are very high.

I can only attest to the Copenhagen ones above. Klarlund and Bucherer sell new. And they are within walking distance from each other. But their Rolex stock is not much better than ADs in the US or elsewhere in Europe (i.e. poor).

Also note than chrono.dk (used) is a bit further out from the city (Hellerup). And I wouldn't call their prices particularly competitive. Granted, they have nice examples, but certainly not as candy as HQM.

Compared to my experience in Singapore, the market in Copenhagen is disappointing.

Thanks all for the suggestions! @phrede and @faimag, I’ll be sure to check out Klarlund and Bucherer while in Copenhagen. I’ll try to get in touch with Chrono.dk as well before I head out there.

@Willur, will certainly look up Luxury Watches Stockholm. Curious to see what they have.

I’ve been looking for a 1675. I’m also holding out hope that one day I might walk in to an AD and pick up a 116500ln...

This is exactly my experience as well. Luxury Watches is worth stopping by for vintage, I haven't purchased from them, but the staff was welcoming and seemed to be well informed. I haven't seen vintage stock in other places, curious if others have found any other than Luxury Watches.

I’ll attest to Frank Jaeger & me - have a look at franzj dot com for some of their inventory. Not the cheapest place but good service!

Well, I live in Stockholm and that's about it. Besides 'Luxury Wathces' the three Rolex ADs are:

Nymans ur

Krons ur (same owner as Nymans)

Rob Engström

But as I said, no sport models. :)

If you are after a 1675 then Thomas @chrono.dk is definitely worth calling. He can often meet in CPH if you give him enough notice. I bought a very nice one from him just before prices went mad !

Thanks everyone for the added suggestions. I arrived in Copenhagen, jet-lagged and tired but managed to visit Klarlund and Franz Jaegar & Me.

As soon as I walked through the door and inquired about Rolex, the salesman at Klarlund mentioned there were no stainless steel sports models at all.

I spotted a couple 16750s at FJ&M and tried on a nice white gold black dial Day-Date. Really cool shop, with lots of other watch brands.

perhaps not the best selection, but certainly better prices than HQ Milton

Ole Mathiesen and Hvelplund are also worth a visit, if you care for other than Rolex

Have a nice trip

Forget about a Rolex and go to La Glace in Copenhagen!

Wanted to update this thread with my visit to Chrono.dk about 30-40 minutes from Copenhagen city center by bus. Keld, from Chrono.dk, was really friendly. We talked for a bit about watches, I got to check out some of the Mondani books, and also got to try on a couple 1675s with Mk 6 dials.

Something about the vintage Pepsi bezel inserts is so appealing to me... how richly reflective they are in the light. For travelers to Copenhagen, I recommend getting in touch with Chrono.dk and making the trip out to Hellerup.

Well as mentioned the Stockholm AD's are extremely dry but you have 3. Krons, Nymans Ur and Rob Engströms. I used to like Nymans but after buying from them the sales associates went quiet and useless. Rob however has had very friendly staff and even have some vintage from time to time.
Luxury Watches Stockholm is a grey dealer and has absolutely everything you would want but will charge you the for the privilege.

To be honest I have no idea how they stay in business or even make money considering their Patek stock alone is millions of dollars worth of inventory.

There is an auction house as well near Luxury Watches Stockhom called Kaplans and depending on the auctions running at the time, might have some vintage for you.

I’ve been in Stockholm for a couple days now and today I was able to visit all three ADs and Luxury Watches. As far as stainless steel sports models, I saw both Milgauss models and both Explorer IIs at the ADs.

Luxury Watches has an amazing collection, but they didn’t have any 1675s or 16750s. I was able to try on a black dial 116500ln, which wears so nicely.

That’s it for my Rolex adventures this trip!

https://luxurywatches.se/en/ has an incredible selection of Rolex, Patek, etc but prices are VERY high.

Scandinavia has a very savvy collector community - there ZERO chances you will find a bargain or "get lucky" with an AD offering you a Submariner, Daytona, or GMT - the lists are as long there as anywhere in the world.

There is an auction house next to Nyman's in Stockholm called Kaplan's - they do have used/vintage watches at occasions but no good deals - all auctions are on the internet these days as it is a global market.

I was searching a 116710LN to celebrate this new year's eve in Stockholm and I made contact with every AD with no luck. Luxury watches didn't have a bnib but the staff is very friendly. Link is on Patrick's post above.

Surprised that there aren't any deals in Sweden as the SEK has plummeted the last few years and even more recently. I guess they buy more watches, bitcoin, gold etc. to keep the purchasing power and as you say the market is global.

So ummmm, looks like I will skip the watch hunting....if I'm in the area, will def stop in. Any recommendations for good restaurants. We won't even try to get reservs at Noma because we are bringing our 3.5 yr old and according to the resto rules, she has to get a coursed meal too (we can't bring in mac n cheese). I love my daughter more than anything and would sacrifice my life and all of my watches and cars for her...but I'll be damned if I buy a 3.5 year old a $500 dinner.

Was there 2 weeks back at Copenhagen and Malmo. Went through all Rolex dealers and sure it was really dry. Only SS YM.

Same goes when I was transiting at Frankfurt

In about a week’s time, I’ll be driving past Copenhagen and Malmö & through Stockholm, with no intention whatsoever to visit the local ADs

I'm headed to copenhagen next week. What's pricing compared to the US? I'm sure that there will be no steel Rolex, like everywhere, but I'm curious about a RG sky dweller. with VAT refund, will it be competitive with a US AD?

Prices are slightly higher across the board in Denmark compared to the US, but if you subtract VAT (called MOMS locally), that would be 25% less...

See here on the procedure to claim back VAT.

That's in the Strøget. When did you go and there is no living soul around? At 5-6am in the morning?!

Haha, indeed I missed that! It was 8:32!

Still, I am a bit surprised. I run through there in the mornings and there are always at least a few people (your standard street cleaners, homeless, etc.)

I seldom get to see that street like that :)
