Buying my first 1680 need help

My father ownes 2 1680’s so I’ve always wanted one and finally found a local dealer that has two for a price I deem good, sorry for the bad pictures but which one would you choose? The left seems to have thicker lugs and crown guards but service hands while the right has thin crown guards and somewhat rough hands. Which would you choose? Both have a newer style bracelet and both are late 5.24m ssn range Do these look good?

Neither are very original. Why don’t you buy one of your Father’s watches? Does he really need two of them?

They will be passed down eventually and I gave access to them if I want but I have the means now. What’s not original?

Do any of us even need a Rolex? Let alone a collection? Kinda a moot question on this forum

right 1680 has SEL which not correct as well but depending on price, it might still be a good purchase if you are that picky. I would take the left.

The hands are turning me away from both of those pieces. I would probably keep looking.

I'd pass on these. And seeing as you're in line to be gifted two 1680s, have you considered a 5513 or another reference?

The left is a better case.

Price is high for what it is but “ask” and “sell” May be far apart. Poor case and other issues scare me away from the right one. At almost any price.

Here is my late uncles 1680. My father took possession of it when he passed and I wore it on my wedding day.
My father and uncle both bought 1680’s in the late 70’s and that’s how he ended up with two

Except that he asks 15k+ for a white 1680 with B&P. That is too high, IMO of course. I'm sure there are plenty of buyers though, so what do I know? Just looked at the current inventory; 16800s are bordering 10k on HQ now. Geez, and many here say we're not in a bubble. Hmm.

Bought a matte 16800 3 years ago in the low 3s and this 1680 around the same time for 5k...

The photos aren't great but I am pretty sure the one on the left has a service dial. I'd keep looking.

I could buy both of them for $10k a couple years ago

Besides neither are very original, as stated above

I agree, can't be sure because of the photo quality but looks like a Service dial, open sixes, narrower gap between bottom two lines of text and Swiss T < 25 almost touching the hour markers. Happy to be corrected by a better photo.
