Tudor (Pelagos) advice

Would appreciate any feedback on the Tudor Pelagos watch. I’ve never owned a Tudor nor even tried one on.

I’ve got a chance to pick up an unworn blue dialled Pelagos today at a good price. I have been looking for a watch that isn’t a Rolex or a Patek to wear on those occasions I don’t fancy having a minimum of 8k on my wrist. I also do love a blue dialled watch hence my love for the Bluesy and Smurf etc.

Is this a good addition to my collection or just likely to not get wrist time?

I think so Henry as it'll expand on your assortment of watches, but you should try it on and see how it feels as it will be the largest watch you'll have.

I would be hesitant to purchase a watch that I have no experience with... and given the watches in your signature I would say that the Pelagos will feel larger than all. But, like all Tudors, they are great value for the quality so I would pull the trigger.

Pelages is a great watch and Tudor did a great job advertising it! I would definitely get a 40m version.

Tough one.
A few things to keep in mind.
The Pelagos is way taller than anything you have.
The way is way lighter than anything you have.
In my opinion the watch is very toyish. In person looks like a lego. Please blue Pelagos owners don’t get all chippy, just my opinion.
If you want a kick around watch with a blue dial I’d look at IWC, they have some nice looking blue dials.
Positives on the Pelagos I love the self
Adjusting bracelet.
I’ve owned both black and blue for a short amount of time.

I like the blue Pelagos but don’t own one as I have 4 Black Bay so you can see I like Tudor.
I say go for it it’s a nice watch.

Hi Henry: I looked at your profile info and your watch collection features ultra-classy timepieces. You obviously, to me anyway, have taste and style. I've never owned a Tudor, but they seem to be crowd pleasers and offer an exceedingly good 'bang for the buck'. Their pedigree and historical importance is impressive so by all means, go ahead with confidence.

However.....

Before you head over to Talk Turkey with your AD, you'll need to not only see it in person - but also try it on, live with it if only for a few minutes. (The more time you can spend with it, the better.) In person, is the only way you can *experience* the piece and check the comfort factor, the weight, how the watch feels in general, well..... you know what I mean.

Except for the most curssory check, a photo, brochures, videotape playback, whatever - spending TIME with the watch, again *experiencing* the piece is crucial - If you don't you're not only at a disadvantage but you may be ignoring or missing critical aspects of the watch.

But, you know all this. Asking opinions on TRF, while certainly useful (and usually fun!) is only one aspect to consider when buying a new piece. And, let's be honest here: the only opinion that matters, that *really* matters is yours. You're no rookie, you know the drill: I have every confidence that if you handled buying PP's etc. This should be a piece of cake: you'll make the right choice.

Please let us know how things turn out.

If you'll excuse me, the Dodgers contributed to a 'white hot hangover' that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Never again right?

It's a great watch, I love mine!

It may be the most comfortable watch I own. The titanium is a joy to feel on the wrist, IMO. And at +1 sec/day and a 70 hour power reserve, that's a lot of bang for the buck.

Really appreciate all of the advice. Whether or not the watch will prove to be a keeper or not time will tell, but as I said in my initial post I did want to find a slightly less expensive watch to add to the collection. When I tried it on it immediately felt very comfortable and the weight and size feels good. So we shall see; it’s not a risky purchase at all as on an used basis they are holding value pretty well, particularly against a discounted purchase price.

I’m quite looking forward to the first person telling me, when wearing it, that it’s a poor man’s Rolex....

Well, get ready, cause there's definitely that sentiment lurking here, I'm sad to say. Or "garbage," as one of our members called a BB58 yesterday.

As for me, I'm thrilled with my last three purchases, all Tudor. They have brought joy and excitement back into my watch passion, where it had become lacking, to be honest. I will always love my Rolex watches, but man, these new Tudors have definitely put some zing in my step.

I have been wearing my blue tudor pelagos for 2 years now and I love it. Its my favorite watch that I own at the moment! I have only ever had one person make a comment on the watch, and it was a positive one. Besides, who cares what other people think.

I love it too. I tried one on last week and agree with this sentiment: you should try it on.

I have skinny wrists (about 6.25”) and 40 is about as big as I can pull off.

The Pelagius is 42mm. I tried a black one but if I got it I’d get the blue for the same reasons you state, OP.

My initial impression: it doesn’t wear too big. It wears smaller than 42, imo. But it is thick. Noticeably thicker than the BLNR I was wearing when I walked into my amazing AD (thanks, Jason : ).

Ive tried on a Pelagos, didn’t fall in love with it.
It was too big and bulky, the blue bezel combined with the blue dial looked too plasticy IMHO.

I have owned a Pelagos LHD for about three months now and love it. Unlike the Rolex Submariner not something I could wear with a suit to court but for all non-suit wearing occasions I love it. Do not find it to big and wears lighter than it looks.

I disliked Tudor until my 58 was aquired. Something clicked. My poor Sub gets no wrist time. Def trying to buy a bb 36 to share with the wife now (aka let her borrow occasionally). The Pelagos is definitely in my future as well!

I love my Pelagos. It's quality, technical innovations, and design are amazing. However I am finding that its big size is starting to become a bit of a downer for me, especially compared to 40mm sports rolexes. Do I love it? Yes. Would I love it even more at 40mm and a slimer profile? For sure.

I love mine... prob the best value you can find these days. Id be all over a 45mm version.

I tried on the blue Pelagos tonight and it was amazing! Even though it is 42mm, it wore far smaller than my SD43 due to being titanium and because the lug to lug is only 50mm and the bracelet come straight down - not extended from SEL extension for the lugs.

Really blown away by the value for money of this watch. In many ways superior to Rolex divers, especially the sub.
