The Expy II is tough. I had one but flipped it years ago. However, I've always used a Casio for yard work, etc. I'm a small framed man and the Casio is just more comfortable in lifting and sweaty types of activity.

The only difference in any oyster cased Rolex is mainly the W/R they are all made from the same SS so should be equally tough.

even with the steel bezel i would wear my explorer II for things i wouldn't wear a ceramic bezel Rolex for. If only because its less jewelry feeling to me.

I consider my Explorer II 216570 to be Rolex's toughest and most hard-use watch. I wear there and back. As it turns out, it looks good covered in blood too!

No way would I prefer a watch with a steel bezel over my sub's ceramic bezel for manual labor.

I think all of my sport or professional cased Rolex watches are pretty tough and durable. Difference with the Explorer II over the rotating ceramic bezel watches is that if the Explorer II bezel takes a hit and is damaged, it is far easier and cheaper to repair than the rotating bezel assembly on the other watches.

For tough, like others have said, go G-Shock. Far more disposable if the worst happens.

I wear all of my sport watches wherever I go and whatever I do... Only watches I dont wear in a do anything situation are ones on leather and less than 100M water resistance.

I just ordered my first G Shock as I've heard many good things about the line, it'll be here tomorrow (gotta love Amazon Prime).
In fact the most recent WatchTime magazine has a whole story in it about the G Shock which is what enticed me to pick one up - can't go wrong for $60!

Seiko SKX007/9 fits the bill for great looking, tough as hell, quality automatic watch if you don’t want to damage your Rolex

If a SKX can take it a Rolex can take it. It's more a question if the owner is scared of getting scratches.

Perhaps it's worth pointing out that the OP wasn't asking what the toughest watch is, or even saying what he thinks the toughest watch is, but rather was simply stating that he thinks the Exp. II is tougher than the Sub C. Considering he hasn't even bothered to explain why in the 14 hours since he first said it, I'm not sure why any of us continue to care.

The modern Explorer II has the 3187 movement. It has the Paraflex shock resistance feature.
All Rolex movements have some form of shock resistance but I guess the Paraflex in the 3187 has the slight edge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
