My take on the grey market, new insight

My take on the grey market is that there are a few models that are selling like hot cakes and other models that are just hype.

Just because Daytona’s and Pepsi gmts are hot does not mean that other watches that are NOT on the shelves of ADs are hot

That is my insight, posters on this forum are too quick to generalize saying it one thing or the other, I think you cannot generalize as each watch has its own market, it’s own buy rate and it’s own niche.

For some watches it’s supply and demand creating shortage

For other watches it is just hype to try to feed of the hot watches

Okay. What are the watches not on AD shelves that you think are NOT hot, and are just hype.

You make a good point, we focus on the watches that we like

But i bought a watch from and AD this year that was a sports model and I only waited one week to get it, which means it was probably available but not outside in the display case

So you developed en entire theory worthy of a dedicated thread based on a single, anecdotal incident? Your Ph.D. supervisor would be proud.

I think you're being too quick to generalize, saying it's something or other.

Actually, I'm not sure what you're saying.
Some watches are selling purely because of hype and hotness Vs other watches selling because people like them as watches ?

Lmao....no hot watches....
Guess that weekly manager's meeting won't be getting any new data. Thanks for solving this existential Rolex dilemma with the purchase of one watch, that by the way is the oldest of the modern six range and relatively easy to acquire.
By this logic I supposed that all those car dealers with minivans, VW Golfs and Camrys stacked to the ceiling are just waiting for the flood gates of the buyers of those cars to stomp in on black friday vs F150 Raptors, GT3s or Golf Rs because none of those are say popular, more desired or produced in lower volumes.

Look its a plain and simple fact while there are those willing to pay crazy money for Rolex watches. And if it is advertised via the various forums on the net what they are asking and getting, most of the hard to get at retail Rolex watches will end up in the grey market. And where many others read such information on the net Rolex watches are now nothing more than £££££$$$$$ to buy and flip, so in many ways the WIS has made a rod for his/her own back by continually posting such information.
