Found a BLRO That’s Apparently Married

AD in Maui told me they are only selling the BLRO’s to returning customers that spend hundreds of thousands with them. Only other way is to purchase a Patek. I asked if I purchase a Patek can I get it and she said sure, she would call the owner and see how quick they could get the watch to the store. Can’t say I agree with this at all and sad to see this is fairly normal practice right now.

I asked about a SS Nautilus and she said no. I might have done it on this one.

That’s a bit like having not just your cake and eating it, but the whole buffet table too.

Quite a few PPs could be sold on at a very minimal loss or modest to massive gain so if they can get hold of any of those for you then it could be a great deal.

Chances are though it will be a more easily sourced Calatrava, nautilus is harder to get and commands a secondary premium way in excess of any modern day Rolex.

It will be a dress watch, they ain't no fools. The biggest grey in Europe has a buyback policy but only on SS Rolexes, won't even extend it to SS Pateks at the moment, they must think the numbers are too high and they're not sure of the future market.

Haha... more like sarcasm. Patek dealers hold the 5711 just like Rolex dealers do the BLRO and Daytona. But, if an AD told me I had to bundle a Patek to get a Rolex, I'd say, "5711 and BLRO... here's my card."

All I can say is that anyone who buys a Patek for the sole purpose of purchasing a Rolex has to be a total fool.

I mean, I like watches a lot and I own lots of watches, so adding a couple in a week or so, or even buying two at once is not out of the question, but being given that kind of ultimatum would stop me in my tracks.

Now, I'm not suggesting that I could in any way afford such a deal, anyway, as my top dollar for any watch is $9999.99, but I have never dealt well with ultimatums, either in matters of finance or matters of the heart.

Anyone buying any second watch so they can purchase a mass produced Rolex is a fool in my book. But while there are fools around that will do this, the trend will continue.

I agree. Being pressured to buy something I don't want and which is significantly more expensive. Agree or disagree, but I'm not buying a Porsche just to be "allowed" to buy a midrange Lexus suv. Absurd.

The ADs by me all implied that if I purchased a couple of PM pieces I could get the BLRO.

Found a BLRO That’s Apparently Married

I’m sure Rolex USA would be interested to learn that dealer (and maybe others) are requiring a purchase of a competitor’s watch in order to buy a Rolex.

I’ve been asked to buy a PM Rolex from an AD’s existing inventory to get a Daytona 500 - but a tie-in to Patek is a new one.

If I was in the market for both, then I’d be delighted.

I'm old enough that I can actually remember being able to walk into a store and buying whatever you wanted with no other strings or ultimatums attached. They have it.....you want it....they sell it....you buy it.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Same story. Buy a 5960G or 5270R at full price, I can get you something you want. It's a joke.
