Stainless availability in Abu Dhabi as of this morning

I happened to be at the Abu Dhabi Mall this morning and took a look through their Rolex store. They had:

1) Black face Stainless GMT

2) Explorer

3) Deep Sea Sea Dweller

4) white face Sky Dweller

5) Z-Blue milgauss

6) 116719 BLRO (not stainless but nice anyway)

I asked the salesman if they were for sale and he looked at me like I was crazy. “Yes of course they’re for sale”. I only asked the price of the Sky dweller which was 61,000 AED or $16,607. The UAE has a 5% VAT now but will refund for tourists

not bad. I guess they are available since the prices are very close to the grey market.

They are available because they are the least desirable SS models on the market....

I'd agree with you except for maybe the DSSD? I thought they sold pretty well? Not submariner level but still sold well?

It was not the JC edition. Also forgot they had a 116613 black face sub for sale. The desirability of many Rolex watches is based on the perception of exclusivity. If Rolex releases 10000 blue faced Sky Dwellers tomorrow the second market ($20,000+) would plummet. Do people really love the blue color that much more than white or do they think it’s a watch they can enjoy now and sell for a profit later? Rolex never made any promises to limit supply and every person on the waiting list for a blue face Sky dweller is thinking about flipping it...

“If they are for sale?...”
Special times, special questions...

If I saw a BLRO, I would’ve asked: “Is that real”?

The white Sky Dweller is least preferred because the Blue and Black are much easier to read.I think the white would still be turd because it's harder to read. Sure certain people would still prefer it, but I think a great many would get the blue even if it's more common, simply because you can read it!

The hype is dying - too many flippers buying in the last 12 months to make easy money. Now its hard to flip to make easy money hence you will slowly start seeing SS Rolex in shops again.

It was full crazy 12 months ago - every single SS Rolex was being snatched up by profiteers.

I personally could care less about the sky dweller.
Not saying it’s not a nice/niche watch ...
just not my style ...
