One watch to make others feel obsolete

Has anyone gone through this? Ever since I got my black Daytona C, I literally can’t wear anything else. Even when I wear something else for a day, I cant wait to go back to it. And I have other desirable references. So whats the point of multiple watches?? Anyone else with same “issue”?

Got the same issue. When I received my 5980/1R-001, not many of my other watches have gotten wrist time. I've decided to try to put the watch away for at least a week now and see how I feel. I have a feeling that I'm going to miss it a lot...

PS. Some serious first world problem we have here.

I do my best to rotate but it's been all about my Blnr lately. It's only six weeks old so still in the honeymoon stage but it feels like this one isn't going to get old.

Between my BLNR and 3239 IWC Ingenieur, I sort of have to force myself to wear anything else.

The BLNR classes up nicely while still being sporty. The IWC flies under the radar and is just super cool.

I have multi week honeymoon periods with new watches, but when I revisit the safe it's like rediscovering old friends....the new watch invariably falls into rotation with the older ones....

So true for 99% of my watches. Sometimes the honeymoon lasts 24 hrs...

That’s reassuring to hear! Although I am 6+ months in with the daytona. Maybe now I am realizing why this watch is so hyped...

The only watch that will do that for me would be my ultimate grail. Right now I do not own that watch.

Not referring to you directly but I think the grail word gets thrown around a lot. And it changes frequently for all of us obsessed with this hobby. Sometimes the grail is on your wrist and you don’t even realize it...

How long have you owned it? During the honeymoon it’s definitely hard to part with a new watch. After a while things will level out, if they don’t, it’s just part of the process of building, buying/selling/trading a collection. Might be time to move a watch or two if they get no love.

Whatever "speaks" to you is "the watch".

And yes you can have several.

It’s hard for so many watches to compete for wrist time with that one!!

My new Pepsi could be that one watch (or maybe honeymoon phase right now)

But the Pepsi checks all the boxes for me:
GMT good for travel
Comfortable with jubilee
Vintage feel with jubilee
Built solid and can easily swim, shower and get it wet with no worries
Accurate like crazy (so far +1 sec over 3 days)
It's a looker with red/blue bezel

Second the OP. The OP is really light, especially without the bracelet and I enjoy taking it out of the safe. I tend to go to it right after wearing my "heavier"Doxa 300 or CK 2998.

I've got the same problem!!! I will still wear my SD4K and EXP II as appropriate.

One must be careful between honeymoon period and the single watch that would be your end game. Right now I pretty much 100% of the time wear full precious metal pieces only. My DD40s along with my full RG SkyD get all the wrist time.

After owning pretty much every single Rolex model I can honestly say that honeymoon period causes many including myself to isolate watches that have been in the collection longer. Its just human nature to gravitate to newer things.

This however is my ultimate that would 100% make each and single watch obsolete for me. Its nice to dream.

Whats the pricetag on this beast? Patek says it's on "request" Means it's somewhere 250K+ EUR?

Of all my watches I rotate often so dont feel that... Most are fairly special and if pushed to only have 1 it would be the BLNR. Purchased for a milestone in my life, and worn for many other milestones, not to mention that it is the most functional watch I own at the moment as I track multiple time zones all the time.

I’m in the PM camp. I prefer the weight and feel of a full PM Rolex. I think it’s natural to have a honeymoon period, but it’s after the honeymoon when I decide if the new grail is “the one”, typically it’s not. It’s just “another one”. I will admit IMHO you cannot go wrong with any full PM Rolex. Compared to other brands, they are a good “value” for what you get. I also consider the cost of ownership over the years with servicing. Service a Breitling a few times and you could have just bought a new one.

I wear mine in rotation and no watch has ever commanded me to wear it everyday, I'm just not that type hence I am a collector and an agitator of a settled collection, and then just look what happens to your post count once you join a great and in-sync forum!

If the honeymoon phase lasts a while, you might be a one watch person. My Hulk has been with me 2.5 years, and it’s still the one I want to put on. It sometimes seems like a chore to wear my 16613.

I suspect moving to PM would help me forget about the hulk, but it will be a while before I can make that jump.

I go through phases and enjoy some watches more than others. When I introduce a new watch to the collection I typically give it a lot of wrist time. I either really feel it for the watch or it moves on. It is nice to have a special feeling about a watch but I do feel that way about a few in the collection. Nice to get around to wearing them.
