Watch links ?

Stupid question..Can I go to an AD that I have no relationship with and ask them to take a link out of my sub? Will they charge?

An AD wont charge you if you bought the watch there and most won't charge you even if you didn't but I have heard of AD's asking for a small fee to do it if you just walk in off the street.

It's a business.

Do you expect a business to work on your stuff at no charge?

I would say that the sales staff might, but do you really want a salesman messing with your many thousand dollar watch. If you are lucky, they will have a watchmaker on staff who would do it correctly for a nominal charge.

If you know how to use a screwdriver, then you should be able to take a link out.

Does money have to change hands for responsibility to be accepted in the USA?

If I do it for you no charge and I damage the screws or scratch the bracelet can I just hand it back and say ‘sorry about that’?

If I charge you to do it do I repair any damage at my cost?

These posts crack me up.......

Yeah, just grab a screwdriver and dig that screw out.

We can all be link removalists.

So you're saying you don't know how to take that tiny screwdriver to the screw and turn counterclockwise? Let me guess. You call an electrician to change a lightbulb as well.

The correct hollow ground 1.6mm screwdriver blade will help

Any 'SMART' AD should help you out. It's a good way to get to know you and possibly make a new customer. It happened with me, I stopped in to a new to me AD to have an adjustment made on a Milgauss (no charge). I went back and ended up buying 5 watches (4 Rolex) in a year, all with a discount too including a Blnr. I have a great relationship now all because of my first impression of how I was treated.

I’ll make an assumption here and say you’re not a businessman.

If the AD treats him nicely and helps him out, the OP is likely to remember that sort of service.

If he gets treated with that sort of regard as a non-customer, he’ll wonder what the service is like as an actual customer and will be sure to make that AD the store to provide him with his next watch.

He’s asking for a link adjustment, not an actual link. If you’re smart and business minded, there’s a bigger picture out there.
