The Rolex Ceramic Bezel Submariner.......

It's hard to say what to call the latest offerings from Rolex for the iconic Submariner.

Solid Gold cases and bracelets, and ceramic bezel inserts..... They are technologically a masterpiece. Some hate them, and some love them. It does seem, though, the ceramic (Cerachrome in Rolex Speak) is here to stay..

Why isn't the crown and the word "Rolex" golden-color, the way it was on the older YG Submariner?

I like it more this way (white) gives it a more younger touch imo

I am one that actually loves the 'upgrades' of the new Sub...supercase, maxi-dial, fatter hands and better clasp. My only complaint is the PCL's. I can live with it on the WG/YG versions as I highly doubt anyone will be doing much diving with those versions (not to mention I'll never buy one), but I sure hope the SS version maintains a full brushed link bracelet.

The SS Sub is too sporty IMO to have PCLs...leave it all brushed as it goes great w/ water sporting activities but still looks amazing with a suit. I don't really see the need to dress up this watch. If there's ever a situation where the term "Less is More" is appropriate, it would be in this regard.

Thanks for the pics Tools.

I really like the WG sub but two things worry me.... 1- price 2- scratches.

The ceramic bezels are great and I do hope they stick around for a long while.

Beautiful pics, Larry.....many thanks for sharing.

But for once I have to say......the BLACK looks far, far better than that insipid BLUE!!

I like everything but the blue. And now I want to see what the SS version will be like! I'm curious about Basel once more.

Hey guys, help me out with this...is it me, or does the relationship between the supercase at the lugs compared to its bracelet seem even larger than the relationship on the DSSD? Is the new Subs end link 20mm or 21mm like the DSSD? From your pics, the case definitely appears wider than the DSSD. Optical illusion?

Comparison example:

I think thats just optic illusion, I have very small wrists. I first ordered the dssd but than again with my small wrist thats just too much...

I wonder...actually, not sure if I was clear as my observation had to do strictly with the relationship of the case to bracelet, regardless of the size of wrist the watch is on.

For some reason it seems in your photos that the width of the case at the lugs is 'fatter' than those on the DSSD (in relationship to the SEL on the bracelet). I guess the only way to tell would be to examine both side by side or take exact measurements of their width. Cheers.

Looks like my GMTIIc without the 4th hand... but otherwise same case dimensions with the beefy case shoulders/lugs that overhang the bracelet. bring on the SS and the new super LV! green baby, ... green!

I'm sorry but with that blocky looking case it just doesn't look like a sub anymore. Its hard to tell it from the GMTIIc now, they both look almost identical.

Sub has always looked like the GMT...and vice versa. It has been like this for decades.

Don't you think the old skool nipple black dial gold sub looks better than the new one?
