How is everyone measuring timing?

I see a lot of questions from this forum about how accurate timing is, how off timing is. How is everyone measuring timing? Is a real timegrapher used, or is it an app you use? Is everyone taking into consideration on how the watch is placed? Ie on the side, face up or faced down? I know that Rolex are COSC certified, but I want to know how members are measuring their time pieces and for how long?

I use an app called Twixt, which is great.

I just use time.gov and my eyes. I also make a mental note of which resting positions result in the best accuracy and precision.

I set the time to the second, say at 10pm.

Then x days later I compare the time on my watch to the time on the other source (that I used to set my watch) and find the difference.

The rate is (difference in time)/(days elapsed)

time.gov and/or watchcheck app. I find an app to be better suited when the watch is not as accurate or if you really want to see if there are any variations during the day or from day to day. My Tudor at the moment is running 3 seconds fast after 2+ weeks so no need for an since it's so accurate.

usually i measure the time on my watch. If im late to something and get fired then its probably off. But i use the sun position as a back up just to be on the safe side.

My iPhones clock app and its seconds hand in comparison to my watch after I set it exactly on the hour each day with a full wind.

As long as it keeps time and date correctly, and my power reserves is correct, then I’m totally ok If I need time to the second, then I have my g shocks...

Set it to time.gov and check the delta each day.

Consider buying a Timegrapher too if you’re interested in the numbers.

I use Watch-o-scope and measure against a GPS Disciplined Oscillator.

I don't measure the accuracy on a +- daily basis. if I wear the same watch for awhile I check it against the time app on my laptop. If it's close it's good enough

I use the clock app in iPhone. From the home screen it shows like a wall clock with a red hand and I set my wrist watch exact to it. I cross reference each day-

I like tools and gadgets so I bought a basic timegrapher that you can get for $150 on Ebay. I have some cheaper watches that I will open up and tweak the regulator thingy. It often takes a half dozen trys to get it right and a timegrapher lets you dial it in without waiting hours between trys to see how you did. I don't open up and mess with my Rolexes and other "good" watches but since I buy used as often as not it's also good to know instantly how well it keeps time in various positions instead of waiting a few days.

Perfect answer. My two R's run well, sometimes as good as 45s off in a month. I'm sure over the month it varies. If I need to time something tightly it's on a computer and we're talking ms.

I go to the local JC Penney every week and check against the Bulova wall clock behind the register.
