387 (LE) or 221 (gmt)
All opinions and advice welcome! Was considering adding the 211 gmt but then saw the 387 LE in person and it is quite a stunner. For reference, have a 287 and 211 (snowflake). Hadn’t considered the 387 initially bc thought it was too close to the snowflake but now I think they could co-exist... thoughts ?

SBGM221 for me.
Out of many watches that I own, it gets the most wrist time since it has arrived here |

Definitely more interesting dial... but not looking for praising , always wear my watches for me. I wonder for owners of the 387 if they get tired of the novelty of and color of the dial... this is one of my thoughts. I too own the snowflake, hence one of my hesitations w the 387. Quote:

Such a hard choice and sorry I will not be of any help. The dial on that 387 is so awesome and unique. Got to hold one in the flesh. So amazing. On the other hand, I am a gmt fanatic. That 221 just screams class and elegance. I’d take that over a Patek. I know that may seem blasphemous but I don’t care.

If a first GS, a hard choice. With the Snowflake in the stable, the 221 is the obvious choice. That being said, go with your gut.

I have handled both and don't care for the LE although I really like my wife's Snowflake. I just didn't like the blue. The gmt was amazing. The case is well wonderful.

Why not SBGM 235? It's a limited edition version of the 221 with mosiac dial, comes with extra strap.

I also tried this on, but found the dial too busy for my taste though it is very cool. Leaning toward the 387 at this point as it will be harder and potentially more expensive to get down the road. If I do get the 387 though, I can see the 221 inevitably ending up in my collection, it’s just so nice. Thanks to all for their opinions! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I have a SBGA011 (first gen snowflake) and tried on the 387 and would have definitely added it if I hadn’t fallen for the dark blue SBGA375 that I bought. For me the price difference was significant between 375 and 387. Plus I wanted a GS with the new logo and prefer a dark blue dial.
Personally I don’t like many of the GS GMT’s because the 24 hour hand sticks out too much. I have a Rolex ceramic GMTIIc LN and the green 24 hour hand is so dark, it blends in unless you neeed to look for it. The GS GMT hands on most models appear as another hand so I’d be afraid I couldn’t quickly tell the time without first finding then excluding the visual of the 24hr hand. Another reason I’d recommend the SBGA387 is because it is steel. The titanium on the snowflake looks like steel. The steel on Grand Seikos are out of this world. One final thing is that the cases are different shapes between the snowflake and the 387 so there is more diversity as well. Let us know when you get the new GS. |

My vote would be the 387 Kirazuri dial. It’s a spring drive similar to the 211 but on a 44GS case deemed the “grammar of design” in SS. I also have the 211 and they can co-exist.
I would also snatch a GS GMT preferably the Kiku Dial celebrating 20 years of GS Automatic movement. The dial may seem busy but the interplay of the concentric circle with the mosaic silver dial makes it less busy IMO. Here are some pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

221. More classic, more function, can take on very different looks with different straps- anything from dressy to rugged.

The SBGA387 and the Snowflake are completely different watches. Therefore, here is my choice:

So I ended up going w the 387, thanks for everyone’s opinions! As I’ve been bitten by the GS bug, good chance I’ll end up w the 221 at some point... the people at Exquisite Timepieces were a pleasure to deal with in person, and everything went super smooth- got the fedex this morning. The dial is so dynamic, and the case size and geometry is just fantastic!

As a follow up, never bonded w the 387 as much as i tried, so recently used it as part of a multi watch trade for a Journe. FWIW, it held its value. Still have my 211 and 267.

I am a huge fan of the 387, it would be my choice.
