Does anyone else find it very uncomfortable when someone notices your watch?

If someone asks "Is it real" I am quite taken aback at their rudeness and just reply with "why do you ask?"

But when some just politely comments on my watch I still find it rather awkward and just politely say thank you. Maybe because I am rather young to wear a Rolex I find it uncomfortable?

It's doubtful in the real world anyone would notice whatever watch you was wearing unless you was flashing it around.A Rolex is just a watch yes it's a expensive watch but still just a watch to tell the time nothing more.Myself been wearing Rolex watches for over 40 years world wide, and over those years you could count on one hand the number of times I been asked about any watch I was wearing.

This, and if anyone ever does notice just take it as a compliment. Otherwise, just throw on a casio if you really want to fly under the radar

It's indeed very uncommon.

The last 4 years I think two guys asked about my Omega Dark Side of the Moon and one asked about a SubC (because he had a Datejust and recognized it).

3x in four years. Close to nothing.

In 18 years only four people have commented on my watch.

1 - Having lunch with a friend who noticed my DJ (stainless 16220) and said it was nice but too flashy.
2 - A person at a drive-thru window said "nice watch" when I was paying. (Sub 16610).
3 - A person at work asked how much I paid for my Rolex (Sub 16610). I know that's really tacky to ask that question so I said it was a long time ago and I don't remember how much I paid.
4 - A friend asked me how long I've owned my Rolex (Sub 16610).

I don't feel uncomfortable at all when someone notices or comments on my watch, and for the most part, people don't even notice.

Through work I meet many people with nice watches, and I always comment on them, and usually end up having a nice chat. Just yesterday I met a fellow with the wg Pepsi with the blue dial. He was happy I noticed and was happy to talk about it, as am I when someone notices mine.
I guess it just depends on the type of person you are and how you come across to others, and the area you live or work.

If someone asks if its real I would tell them Yes its a real watch. If they ask if its a real Rolex depending on where I'm at and whos asking its either Yes if I think there a watch person or its a Folex if I dont know them or like the scenario I am in.

Doesn’t bother me

People rarely notice and nobody has ever asked if it’s real, normally say, nice watch

With the exception of WIS, I have very little experiance of people taking note of my watch and mentioning it. That being said, I had a few comments about my DJ from women over the festive period. I brush it off as a passing comment with a thank you or little else, unless its a WIS, then its time to get our geek on.

no one ever ask if my watch is fake.

I look like Im in my late 20’s....I sport my DD40 and 5980R all the time. Personally i dont care what people think of me, they should worry about what i think of them. My life revolves around me and my immediate family.

Then again im like the fat hairy dude on the beach wearing speedos. So take my opiniong with a grain of salt

If someone asks is that real it means they don't think you can afford the real thing. Maybe have a wash once in a while or sew up the holes in your shirt.

You guys are right that it rarely happens, maybe 4 or 5 times in my 1-2 years of ownership. Still I was wondering if others had a similar reaction.

If anyone ever asks me “is it real”, I generally reply “no, 50 bhat from Thailand”.

There is no point over worrying what others think. True friends and good people worth knowing won’t care if it’s real or not

On the very few occasions in 33 years of wearing a Rolex that someone has asked if it's real, I say something similar:

"It better be. I paid a guy on the street in New York 20 bucks for it!"

I've had a few people notice, but in my line of work, many of my clients are wearing much more prestigious pieces than I. Most of the time it's another WIS who is wearing something on par or better and we end up talking watches. I've had just one awkward experience where a client's rep (young guy) was sitting to my left and noticed that my watch said Rolex on it. He thought it appropriate to make an off the cuff 'must be nice' type remark as we were exiting the meeting. Others heard... Not cool, but I shrugged it off.

I agree that in normal everyday situations in the wild, NOBODY notices.

That's true, usually it is a classmate or sales attendant when I am shopping for something (not watches).

Easy solution find friends/classmates that have rolex. Only shop at places where everypne has a rolex

Doesn’t bother me. Was in a dimly lit elevator and a guy said “nice watch is that the new bond version?” Or something like that, but I was wearing my BLNR.

No one knows it a Rolex except those who know. I always look at people’s wrists and unless I’m a couple feet away, I can’t even tell what they’re wearing for the most part.
