Rolex Supply Problem Again!

I was wondering if there are any indications that Rolex supply problem is dissipating.

My local AD still has no SS sports on display.

Most weeks last year, my local AD had one or two SS models on display. Explorers, YMs, Milgauss, Air King. I didn't see a SS Sub, Sub Date or GMT of any variety. On my first visit this year, just over a week ago, they had zero SS. Not one crumb. It's as if Rolex don't make SS watches any more.

I'm cautiously pessimistic.

Actually, it seems there have been some "Incoming" posts lately by people getting some SS models, usually unexpectedly. Just enough of a glimmer to give one hope. Sort of...

What supply problem?

They sell everything they send to a dealer, there are thousands of watches for sale. Seems like sound business to me.

There is no "supply problem." What you perceive as a supply problem is architected by design. ADs hide in demand pieces and only make them available to customers of their choosing.

There are no supply problems, there are simply increases in demand, thus creating a shortage.

What a novel thread idea. Did the last 30 which discussed the same thing not answer your question?

There is no shortage either, as mentioned in other similiar threads, there are lots of SS stocks at grey dealers selling at premium prices.

I'm in Hong Kong this week and popped into half a dozen Rolex ADs today ... zero SS sports models. Then I stumbled upon a couple of grey dealers (VIP Station, Collector Watch etc) and they had even Daytonas on display. Prices on their tags were cut out, and when I asked, prices were indeed inflated by at least 35%, eg. Sub Date is HK$84k.

I am actually in Tokyo and it’s exactly the same situation right here. Absolutely no SS model in all ADs but you can get 100 Daytona’s or BLRO just by crossing the street and go at grey dealers if you ok to pay 2 times the MSRP ....

Actually, much more interesting to read than:
1. What are eating with your Rolex?
2. What are you drinking with your Rolex?
3. Can I mow the lawn while wearing a Rolex?
4. Which Rolex goes best with my boots?
5. Here's a picture of my 43 Rolexes. Which one do you think I should sell?

Haha! If you missed some of the other threads you can also wear your Rolex in a pool, in the ocean, and when you shower too.

Agree with number 3, disagree with the rest.

Even worse, number 5 is often "what should I add next?"

Popped into the AD in Daytona Beach, FL yesterday & told him I was looking for a 'Pepsi'. He looked at me like I had a tail!

Actually, he was very pleasant but the cupboard was bare.

If they were easy to get, half their customers would lose interest.

No shortage never has been. We are all getting taken for a ride by ADs and Grays. If you still cant see that well there is nothing helping you.

ANY SS is available ANYTIME and ANYWHERE around the world only through grays - that is not a definition of shortage

So by the same logic when a customer expects a discount on a PM piece or any model/brand that isn’t a fast mover then they are taking ADs and greys for a ride too?

Three years ago the consensus on this forum was it was laughable to pay an AD full retail on anything other than a Daytona. It is how it is (for now), suck it up.

Rolex Supply Problem Again!

Call it a supply ‘issue’, ‘problem’, whatever you like, or offer the ‘grey dealers in cahoots’ reason, the fact remains that for over a year now I haven’t seen a single SS Sub, GMT, Daytona (fat chance) in any Rolex AD display. As an earlier poster put it, it’s like Rolex don’t sell SS sports models (and I haven’t seen the less popular Milgauss/Explorer/Explorer IIs since last summer either.)
I’m currently in Cardiff so of course took a wander and checked the couple of outlets. None.
So either they’re all hiding them for PM customers (no idea but plausible) or demand is just way higher (controlled or not) than supply. But to claim ‘there’s no such thing as a SS shortage at authorised Rolex dealers’ is fantasy.
