If you were going to add a Gold Rolex(YG or WG), what would it be and why?

Just throwing a hypothetical but was curious how the board would select.

Thinking about a YG sub with the blue dial. I love blue dialed watches and the YG and blue combo works for me.

Depends on what else I had in my collection. Also...if you’re the type person who’s comfortable in YG ...

Either a Day-Date or a Daytona. Preferably a white gold 1803.

I’d love a new YG Daydate 40 with black dial. Or a gold Daytona with green dial. If I was adding gold it’d be one of these 2.

For a one and only it would have to be a YG Day Date 36mm. Never goes out of style...

I would first add a Day Date then a sports gold. I would go with white gold in the dial of your choice. It is understated and can be worn anywhere. In a sports watch I would get the Sub in yellow gold with the black dial. The blue dial has far too much bling and is not suitable for regular use IMO. Sport watches in white gold make no sense to me.

White gold because I do not like yellow gold.

White gold Pepsi or yellow gold GMT with green Dial, both would be right at home with my smurf and Daytona.

I'm more of a WG guy. If I ever journey down the PM path, it'll be an 116619.

already having a wg piece it will be yg because i love its warmth and lustre. currently a toss up between
16618
116618LB (sunburst or smurf)
116718 (green dial)
218238 *champagne and romans)
118238 (same)

i am really thinking alot about rolex yg. and it is hard to not get a sub given pricing which i think is favourable right now (whilst still being alot of $) and the glidelock.

You are right about the glidelock as a big factor.

Smurf. No rational reason really. I just love it. It is highly unlikely that I will ever own one, but aspiration is a good thing (in my little world).

White Gold Smurf would be my first choice, then a WG Daytona with the blue dial

The glidelock on my sub is nice but the easy link or what ever they call it on my explorer 2 works just fine on my wrist. Enough of an adjustment between summer and winter.

I would agree the slidelock is better but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me.

I thought slidelock on my sub was going to be something I would use everyday, in practice, I almost never use it. The only time I do use it occasionally is if I wear my smurf to the gym.

It’s nice to have, but definitely not a dealbreaker.

I was thinking more about the DD bracelet but you are right as most new references have the easy link.

Currently own 2 all gold references: DD OQ and WG Sub. Have been thinking of adding another gold to my collection. My choices thus far would be YG Daytona(Oysterflex or all gold), YG Sub, YG DD 40, or even a WG DD 40 or WG Pepsi.

I was pretty set on a 116719 but after visiting a client a few weeks ago I spied a skydweller on a leather strap on his wrist, pretty sure it was a 326135..it was beautiful.

Would love to get the WG Sub. I think the blue will look really good with jeans.
