Need help choosing Cartier Tank Solo Size

Hi Guys,

I’m deciding to buy myself a Cartier Tank Solo, but can’t decide which size to get. I’ve got a 7” wrist so please see the pics and let me know which fits better. Thanks.

First one is the large size and second one is the XL size.

Apologies. Don't know why it didn't work the first time.

Thrown in a rose gold large size for fun.

Depends on what you like, but I think you can pull off the XL.

I like the classic look on the bottom. Pics are deceiving sometimes. Whatever feels right to you. Timeless piece no matter what. Big fan.

I have the large, because it doesn't have the mechanical movement and has a much cleaner dial without the date and seconds hand, which is closer to the original design.

I have a 6.5" wrist.

I’m a big fan of most of the tanks but I would hesitate buying them new. I’d rather the buyer before me take the hit and I can pick it up over 50% less.

Regarding your original question I too prefer the rose gold

I personally like the aesthetics of the Large model best because I'm not really a fan of the date window and the sweep second hand but the Large Solo model is quartz and so I'd never buy one. Thankfully, you have a 7" wrist so you can pull off the XL Solo with no problem. My personal choice would be the Large mechanical model in gold but it's nearly four times the price of the steel Solo XL and it might look small on your wrist, so I'd probably go with the XL Solo in steel.

Thanks for the very well-reasoned reply.
Practically that makes the most sense.

This watch does nothing for me in either size and unless you are buying pre-owned you are going to get crushed on the resale/trade value, if you can find someone that will take it. I would find a watch that is more interesting in this style such as the JLC Reverso or the new Santos with the metal bracelet that comes with a strap and a quick change system.

The xl looks pretty clunky for that style of watch.

If you are using it as a dress watch, the smaller one on the brown strap looks great on you.

I think this is a watch that really looks better in the smaller sizes. The XL just seems off to my eye.
