1,993 Horsepower. 5 Supercars. 1 Day.
That was the tag line on my invitation to "M Tour Canada 2006"
This tour has been moving across the country, and includes the M3, M5, M6, M Roadster, and the new M Coupe. Not very often you see all 5 in one place - not even at the auto shows! It was tonight, and I brought the camera along to take a few snaps for your viewing enjoyment! I have always been a big fan of the 5 series (since I drive one) and the M5 has always been my ultimate car. Well, I didn't take many pictures of it, and none of the M3...... Here is the M5......trying to be little creative........ And the business end of this car (5litre, 507 bhp, V10 ): Hard to believe the M3 and M5 were a bit pedestrian in this collection, but they certainly did not stand out as the others did. Here is the M Roadster...... I like the Z4 a lot, and always wanted something with a bit more punch than the normal 3 litre version offers. This has it, with 330 bhp! The M Coupe was a little less....errr....ugly than the last version. I was never a fan of the last one in terms of looks, but apparently it handled very, very well. This one is nicer: The car that grabbed me the most was the M6. It was actually the first car we went to, and I was in love. The sales guy saw us with the camera, and asked if we wanted our picture taken in the car. Kind of cheesy, but we did it anyway: The picture may serve as motivation to gather the $130K (Canadian) this thing costs......okay, maybe not. Inside the trim was carbon fiber....looks way better in real life than the picture: Instrument cluster....330 km top speed indicated, and red line at over 8,000 rev./min. This is the simple looking button that switches the car's output from 400 bhp to 500 bhp: This car goes from 0-100 km/hr in 4.6 seconds. Amazing stuff! Caught my good friend and mechanic (Paul) taking some snaps of his own. He has kept a good number of our cars in top shape over the years, including everything from Pontiacs to Jaguar, to of course, four of our BMW's. It was a great night, and in addition to some food and drink, we saw some nice cars. Hope you enjoyed this, and thanks for reading. |

Why are you thanking us Al? We need to thank you for sharing some great pics of some superior German cars. The carbon fibre looks awesome and from the looks of it, they shoehorned the engine into the M5. It doesn't look like there's any more room in the engine compartment for anything else.
Great pic of you and Jacqui in the car also. It looks like you were made for it. |

Can't say I'm crazy about the looks of the current Beemers, but damn, if that M5's engine ain't a vicious work of art, though!

Nice, Al. Thanks for the pics. I never liked the looks of the Z3 (and it was grossly under powered). But the Z4 is a great improvement. The sculpting gives it a real class look; and the hp increase makes for a lot more pizzazz.

Thanks for posting, Al. Looks like a fun way to kill time. I quite like the M6.. have seen a few on the road. The Z4 looks really good. BTW, what ever happened to that Shooting Brake version of the Z3(??). I really liked that bimmer.
BTW, next week is Italian week in Ottawa and next weekend the Ferrari Club of America (Ottawa Chapter, and likely some from Montreal) will be participating with a parade, show and demonstration. I'll be there, with a Panerai on my wrist and a camera in my hand. Pix will follow! So when does the M6 join the Avalon stable? |

Don't know about the Z3 you are talking about..... As for when the M6 joins my stable, I am taking donations from the TRF members towards my M6 fund now! LOL! ;-) (I would add some smilies, but they are not working for me today - I think the software was updated and this is a bug I have from my work computer - works fine from home......?) |
