“Buyer Fatigue” and market slow down

Any thoughts on whether we’ll start seeing “buyer fatigue” come into play in slowing down the current market insanity?

Last year, people were frantically searching for models that they were unable to find. This year, buyers have been just trying to get on wait lists to no avail. I went into my AD today looking to purchase a new YG Daytona and didn’t have the energy to wheel and deal to arrange a way to package it with some other ss watch. I looked down at my YG sub and walked out. Current market conditions and the search for a ss black Daytona at Msrp all year just finally got to me, and for the time being, turned me off buying.

Anyone else experiencing this as well, or believe that buyer fatigue is starting to occur?

I don’t think so. I think there is thread fatigue on the subject. As long as the economy keeps going people are going to want a Rolex. The popular SS models will be in demand for a while.

Considering how many newcomers we have to the game every day, I think there's always someone gearing up while someone else is slowing down.

Most likely outcome of the situation is that the demand will be shift towards models that have been lately in less demand, i.e. Explorers, AK, DJ and YM.

You are projecting. Hard. Rolex market is crazy strong. This is myopic at best.

I feel like it’s at the point where there could be a subforum just for shortage-related threads.

No buyer fatigue here. If my AD called me
With all the watches I want I would buy every one of them

The only buyer fatigue I have knowledge of is in China. The fatigue is certainly bestowed on the likes of watch companies where China was responsible for forty per cent of these watch companies sells. Look at the stock price of some of these same companies. Not good.

Are you really giving up? Or just wishfully hoping everyone else would give up?

the people on this forum are the last people on the planet you should ask about whether we're approaching buyer fatigue.

Not giving up... but maybe you said it, hoping those who are just on true bandwagon would give up. I miss the days where I could go into an AD and buy what I want. I’ve made 4 purchases in the last year and I’m just getting tired of going to the AD’s and getting the same old story about how they haven’t received any stock when I know they have.

I have an incoming from DavidSW that I’ll post shortly.... maybe grey is the new way!

The whole thing has always been surreal to me. I'm sort of anti-cyclops and unwilling to go much above $7000 for any watch so I guess I was burned out before it was cool.

I don’t think so. Anyway, the thrill is in the hunt, although this may be taken to the extreme in the current market. I actually think demand could increase for Rolex. It seems that there is less interest in many of the other watchmakers leaving only Rolex, the holy trinity and a few other desirable brands truly sought-after.

No shortage of rich people wanting spend money, so although your struggle to land these watches probably isn't unique, I think there are plenty of deep pockets willing to stick it out.

One person’s fatigue is another person’s gain, it’s the nature of market economy. The little devil of selfishness in me hopes more people ahead of me on the wait list will fatigue and give up.

Part of the problem is that competitors aren't offering compelling enough SS products in the <$10k category

Hopefully they can build Tudor up more and drop the rivet bracelets for a compliment in the <$7k market
