Watch Lab (avoid)
Thought I’d swap the insert on the 16710 from the LN back to a Pepsi at the weekend.
Had a job trying to get it clicked in so took to the Watch Lab in town - put the washer, click spring, bezel and insert inside the plastic bag and then inside the Rolex tin. The guy takes it out and looks at me suspiciously then asks me why I want to change it so I told him I was changing from LN back to Pepsi. Then he asks me where I got the insert from as he suspected it was a fake. I told him there was no chance of that as it was from RSC St James (as was the LN and Coke) to which he replies he doubted that was true as Rolex would never participate in a mod. I tell him that all 3 inserts are within ref and in the end we agree to disagree. Next he says it can’t be done in house and will have to go back to their Swiss watchmaker at HQ and gave me an estimate of £100. I said thanks but I’ll shop around so he gave me bits back but he’d lost the click spring in the process! To top it off he gives me another lecture about modding rarely working out well for the owner and spins me a yarn about some AP or PP owner who spent 30K PVD coating a 30K watch and then had it confiscated and lost 60K. As I’m walking out he asks me to bear them in mind when I get it serviced. Anyway I had another go at the insert tonight and managed to the final ‘click’ with the help of chair so all’s we’ll that ends well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

All well that ends well, I think he gave you advice that many here would give you. I was scared when I started to read that they had tried to swap your parts and that you would get home with fake parts.

Sorry mate, this guy knows nothing about Rolex.
RSC do sell the 3 inserts, no issue about that. You can change them with no problem, though it is better not to swap them everyday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What a plonker. It’s fine to change them, although I have unfortunately left the odd scar on my watch from doing so. It’s staying on Pepsi for a while now!
