I think it’s sad that the 116718 is discontinued

The 116718 with black dial is the Rolex that pulled me into the Rolex brand ~12 years ago. I thought it was gorgeous when I first saw it and it had an upgraded bracelet which was previously my blocker to buying a Rolex.

At that time I couldn’t afford it so I went with a 116710ln in 2008. My first Rolex. I wore it everyday for 10 years. In March of 2018 I found myself lucky enough to be in a position to buy the 116718 and I did. Grail acquired. It’s still everything I hoped it would be. Love it every time I put it on. Ended up selling the 116710ln bc it felt redundant alongside the Yg version.

So here I sit today feeling nostalgic that the Rolex’s that hooked me on the brand are now gone from the line up. I don’t miss the 116710ln and I have the 116718, but I still feel strangely sad that both are no longer being made. Like I’ve lost a part of the sparkle that attracted me.

General comments on TFR seem more focused on how people feel about market pricing now that they’re discontinued, but I actually just feel nostalgic and old to see them go. RIP to two of the best.

I have one that I’ve not worn for 4 or 5 years , I was going to give it to my brother at Christmas but gave him a DJ41 .
I’m pleased I still have it in the safe now

This ad is specifically what hooked me on the 116718 back 12 or so years ago.

It'll be back in time. I predict in a Solid Jubilee bracelet. The Green Dial version is done.

As for pricing, I expect a bump in price. Nothing crazy, PM are a niche market.

Likewise, bought a 116710LN then bought a 116718 and then sold the 116710. Glad I still have the 116718. Keeper for me.
