Speaking of sunglasses.......
Since I am not a candidate for LASIK, I wear contact lenses most of the time. However, due to an eye condition, I sometimes have to wear glasses for weeks at a time. The prescription sunglasses I have had for the past couple of years really suck, as they are pair of regular glasses with dark coated lenses. The sun tends to "get behind" the lens if it is over my shoulder, for example, and then there's nothing but glare. I hate them.
So, I went to my optometrist, and looked at what wrap around styles they might have that can be fitted with a prescription. I opted for glasses made in Italy by a company called "The Rudy Project." http://www.rudyproject.com/products/...4&idLivello4=8 They are nice glasses, and have a great feature - you can swap the lenses. So, I bought a set of lenses with my prescription in them, and also some that have no magnification for when I am wearing my contacts. Total cost was $340 Canadian, which is still cheaper than my Oakleys were. Here they are with the non-prescription lenses in: And here they are with the prescription lens inserts sitting in front: You can also get different coloured lenses if you want to swap in different light conditions, or for different activities. |

Rudy has it's roots in cycling. Very euro-chic among cyclists and from what I understand they make excellent products.
Al, I know exactly how you feel about prescription sunglasses. This seems to fit the bill really nicely. |

They look great sitting on the table, Al, but how do they look on. Do you look kinda dorky in them? Is the comfort worth it if you don't look good?

Looking good, Al Do the lenses tend to pop out every now and again? I've had a few pair of glasses with interchangable lenses when I had my motorcycle and that always seemed to happen with them.

Based on how bloody difficult they are to do the swap, I think they will stay put quite well (unless I break them in the process of switching the lenses, that is....). |

Wouldn't be caught dead in pastel slacks. But I do have a pair of cream colored loafers that go well with my Zegna jeans.

http://www.panoptx.com/html/va_pages...117_diablo.htm The removable eyecup is great because with my older pair of Panoptix, I always carried another pair of sunglasses with me so the foam on the eyecup wouldn't get filled up with sweat when I wasn't riding. When the foam becomes wet, the inside of the lenses fog up when I'm riding. This feature prevents that from happening. Also being the day/night version, no more clear glasses to bring along either. Or no more riding home at night with dark glasses if I stayed out later than planned. This pair is the best of both worlds and you get zero wind in your eyes also. |

Another perk of being a golf pro is the freebies when it comes to Oakley and Maui Jims.
I like those Al, they look very cool, I have a pair of clips for my glasses, but just end up wearing my contacts 95% of the time.

The lenses in these fit really tight. I think they will last quite a long time as the deisign for locking the lens inserts in is quite solid.
Anyway, here they are on: Why am I dressed like it's fall? Because it was very cool out yesterday.....not used to wearing cashmere sweaters in June, but the weather here is about 10 degrees C under the average for this time of year.... |

Are you sure you're not related to Roy Orbison? 'Cause...'cause, there's a distinct resemblance there!

My luck with sunglasses is horrible. I used to wear a pair of Ray Ban aviators. They were fairly cheap and I really liked them. My wife didn't, she said i looked like an old man with them, so she told me that they broke accidentally and bought me a pair of Oakley's, I think they're called half jackets. They're nice but I liked my old ones. Anyway, the Oakley's were expensive, around $200. They lasted six months and just broke a couple of days ago . This is why I don't like spending alot of money on sunglasses.

LOL
I would just say something like: "See! That's why I like the Ray Bans - if they get broken, its not that much of a loss. I'm sorry these got broken, but these things happen."
