YM42 looks great!

Forgetting for a sec that this is a PM watch (and price)... I think the exaggerated proportion of the markers/hands on the YM42 and that matte black dial look great! Just wish the bezel weren't completely blacked out and the numbers were filled in with platinum or some other metal.

To me it just doesn't LOOK like a premium watch for the premium price they are asking. If it were in SS it would have greater appeal. Agree on the blacked out numbers. Also not a fan of a rubber strap on a $28K watch

Hardly any of the Rolex PM models (besides YG/g variants) 'look' like a premium watch.

99% of people can't tell visually (or care) if you're wearing SS or WG/Platinum!

I think the new YM 42 is smart!

I think it looks fantastic, and I'd put an order in for one if it was SS and priced around $13K / $14K give or take.

The price is a deal breaker for me. I'd move up to the Daytona on Oysterflex for that price, or even one of the new AP ROO's in 42mm.

I'm not talking about whether the case looks like white gold vs SS, I mean the watch itself does not look like a premium watch. The matte bezel, the dial, nothing on that watch resembles a $28 timepiece to my eyes. Like I said if offered in SS for ~$9-10K I could see it being popular. But if someone is going to spend that kind of money, my bet is they will look for other PM models before considering this one.

Yeah, but this is a pretty big plus to a lot of the people who like the idea of dressing down or tooling up some of a model like this...pretty under the radar, and the price is guaranteeing a little chunk of exclusivity, which after everyone and their mom/dad/uncle/car salesman/guy who owns the liquor store around the corner buys any SS piece they ever see now because of the craze and chance at profitability is actually refreshing.

Is the dial matt? Think only the bezel is matt honestly.. But I think it´s a great looking watch to!

Then it would be a 42mm sub.

Yeah I suppose. We will see how it sells. Just seems strange to have a white gold Rolex where you basically don't see any metal. That big bezel with the black numbers and the Oysterflex is pretty much all you see other than the occasional glance at the side of the case or narrow lugs. If I'm getting a WG sport model I would go Sub or GMT, but they are more expensive obviously.

Are the matte dial, matte bezel with larger/sportier numbers enough to differentiate it from the sub?
