New to me ... White dial incoming!
I have had a strong desire to add a white dial watch to my rotation for a few years now. My short list was:
1. 116500LN in white of course 2. 16570 in white of course 3. 17000 in white of course So...I don’t want the Daytona enough to beg nor pay above retail. If I wanted the watch enough I know I could source it inside 6 months but the effort needed is not something I’m willing to do for a watch. I will get her when the time is right! The polar explorer has been ticking up well above what my “perceived” value of said watch is. I would ask greys for a few hundred bucks discount and be laughed at. There are tons of these around and if I get one great if not so be it. Great watch really solid with both the 3185 or 3186, but 5/6/7k when you can get a 216570 for 7-7500 seems a bit excessive from my perspective. Time will tell on this assessment. Now we come to the OysterQuartz. The first time I saw this watch was roughly 10 years ago, it was a tt that my uncle passed down to my cousin. I made a joke like “why would you want a non auto rolex” dismissing its uniqueness. Forget production numbers or any of that baloney just the design. Sans Cellini I think the case on the OQ is the most unique offered from modern crystal day rolex. The model really shows an era in Rolex when the industry was so uncertain of its future a company as deeply rooted in tradition as Rolex took a leap of faith. They designed a different case and over engineered a quartz movement which is very similar to a 3135 with a higher detailed finish. The 5035 was designed for over 5 years after using the Beta 21 in previous quartz models. I think the integrated bracelet along with its unique design make it a very cool watch. So here she is out and about, thanks for reading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congrats! Used to have one just like that one. Picked it up NOS from my local Rolex AD where it was sitting in case for a few years. Huge mistake letting that one go.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Any other OQ owners out there? Any suggestions should I send it in for a free battery lol?

Thanks Everyone!
I love how the WG Roman markers sometimes show black and others the WG hue.

Terrific choice. The Oysterquartz is comfy and a bit chunky in a good way.

Congrats and cool watch!
I never really thought about the probable influence this watch had on the North Flag, but it's obvious in your awesome pic. |
