Hulk - amazingly unique or too niche?
My current "issue" is this - I've got the ceramic black sub date and just picked up the ceramic SDK 4000. Love both even though they "look the same" according to the girlfriend test. Should I sit pat knowing I love both, or move one for a hulk/diversity of color? Let's exclude the "keep both and get the hulk also" recommendation for now.
More info: I am not a big green person generally, and I think the only reason I am pining for the hulk now is because I already have the black covered. That is, I didn't start out wanting the green - I am only there now because of prior steps. In the back of my mind I am also thinking the hulk will be more valuable in the future than the standard black sub. That's not to say I don't see the hulk as beautiful, because I do. Just that it's not where I would have started if that makes sense. I've read the threads and some are saying the hulk is too niche, or even they felt it was gimmicky with the sunburst (not trying to offend, just what I read). What I haven't heard are actual hulk owners who later regretted the hulk and felt it was too niche. Anyone got the hulk and felt it was not right for them? And why? I'll be honest. I'd love to be convinced to do nothing (easiest and cheapest move!!). But if there are strong opinions on making a move for the hulk I'd like to hear that also. |

I was going to say just that. I would however sell the sub and get a non diver reference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would agree if it had a matte/flat green dial. The sunburst looks black in many lighting conditions outside of direct bright light or direct sunlight. At least that has been my observation. I think Rolex nailed it on this one.

I am biased, but I love the hulk and don’t consider myself a green person. I have a black SubC and the Hulk, and think they are the perfect pair that check all the boxes for me.

I am exactly in the same situation , love my Sub C(no date) and when I got a call for the Hulk about 2 months ago and saw the beauty of that green specially under the sun in a clear day.

Why would you buy such an expensive watch if you didn’t love it....if the price drops, you’ll hate it and sell it.

As above. You don't want it. Better to face this before you buy it.

Thanks for the replies so far guys - hard to argue with the logic coming at me especially with my own words!!
I guess to explain myself a bit better, yes this would not be my first choice, and yes I'm not really a green guy. But on the first point I would still keep the black sub c or the SDK 4000 (so first choice covered anyway), and on the second I've seen soooo many comments on here like "you have to own one to understand" and "I hated the green then I tried it and bought it immediately" etc. But maybe you're right, no point in forcing this |

100% don’t force it. I remember seeing them in AD windows as recent as 3 years ago. I wasn’t keen. Fast forward a couple of years and my AD manager has one on. It looks great on him, so I try it on, looks ok. Fast forward another 6 months and I try it on again, I’m still not 100%. Anyway, he ends up offering me one and I accept. After owning it for nearly a year, now, I have zero regrets. My advice to you is, try it on and see how you feel. I know they’re hard to get, but try a grey dealer, just to try it on. If you hate it, then you know the answer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Sub and SD4K are nearly identical to the untrained eye. I would not want both in my collection. I would part with one or the other and get something different.
I am not a fan of green. I would go for something like a GMT or maybe dress model |

I agree the Hulk is very green. It's either a watch you love buy it and keep it, or a watch you buy and flip currently for profit. I just bought a 116610LN, it's a keeper for me. I feel the same way about the BLRO, so I bought a BLNR before the price madness. It's a keeper for me.

It’s a great watch and I really like it. However I could never see me wearing it. It appears a bit too costume like for me to wear in actuality. |

As a 116610LV owner, I vote " too niche". I rarely wear mine after getting a 5 digit sub and gmt.
Not sure what turns me off more, the oversized lugs or bezel color. the 16610lv green shades looked more "deeper" because of the SS bezel. the ceramic bezel washes out the green most if the time. The green dial is beautiful though. |

Bought this when introduced, wore for 6 months, then gave to a family member. Not a fan of ceramic LV; love the original LV. |

More "Hulk" for everyone else I guess. Also, "Hulk" is a much less cringe name than the newly coined (vomitous) "Batgirl". |

I wouldn't wear it even once a week so I am not really interested in owning it. Some don't care if the green does or doesn't go well with that they are wearing (note I didn't say matches it). I tend to try to get the details right and that much green is just too limiting for me.
In a 15 watch collection, sure. In a 4-6 watch rotation I can't make it fit. |

It's great looking, but I just wouldn't wear a green watch much. Happy to know others love it!
