Bezel Dent on RG Daytona (116505).....
Guys,
Just notice this morning, a hidden but annoying dent on the bezel of my RG Daytona 116505..... Can it be polished away? What should I do about it? Polish it away or leave it.....? I know some would say that it would give character, but to be honest, its quite annoying for me every time I look at the watch..... Regards,

Laser weld before polish or your edge may be wonky.

I’d leave it for a while - and see if you can forget about it — but if it still bothers you best thing to do is replace the bezel - being on the edge it could end up not being uniform....

If it were mine I would leave it. its the price you pay for wearing a gold watch unfortunately. its a soft metal. Put it down to experience.

I would leave it if I was you. A PM piece would dent easily like that.
Great piece btw. |

You're going to regret hard if they polish that......going to take off a lot of metal surrounding to smooth that out. Need someone to laser weld some on top and then polish down.....problem is finding the right rose gold that Rolex uses.....there's only a couple players in the US I'd trust with something like this. Good luck.

You can polish it now, only to get more dents and more annoyed later. I would collect more dents and get it sorted at the next RSC service.

Not worth the cost or trouble whats the OP going to do rush out and laser weld for ever slightest ding plus laser welding gold is almost impossible.Gold is a softer metal than SS but just like SS they will all get marks dings thats just a fact of wearing any watch.

Not to mention you laser weld steel. Gold just needs to be soldered (not welded) at significantly lower temperature. Its a much simpler fix than a dent in steel.
Talk about overkill

Got a call from the polisher....he assures that it can be fixed....he saved my DD (horrible lug damage due to dropping) once and my wife's date just (case back dinged due to dropping) once....so I believe he has the capability...
His asking price is USD 200 for polishing only.... I said yes....will keep you guys updated... Regards, Syahril Envoyé de mon SM-N960F en utilisant Tapatalk

I'd leave it and replace the entire bezel later at service.
In the meanwhile, find what is causing the mark. Judging by the location, I would make sure to look into buttons and zippers on your shirts/jackets. Really not so bad though, and luckily you caught the bezel instead of the case. |

Bottom line dont buy gold watches. I had same issue with multiple gold watches. Now I only buy steel. I dont have anymore gold watches. Once in awhile I get tempted to get another one but come to my senses. No matter how careful you are with gold this will happen

Bezel Dent on RG Daytona (116505).....
You have the older bezel. The one with the Recessed indices. I’m not sure but I would call RSC and ask if they replace with the recessed or with the newer ones that are smooth.
I don’t even know what to call the new bezels. Looks like it is printed on the bezelI.

You just left the honeymoon stage. Just like in marriage you’re in it for the long haul. Hopefully you both age gracefully together :) M2C
