AD scratched bracelet during sizing, what would you do?

So, I took my newly purchased watch back to the AD to have it resized after wearing it for a couple days. A different rep then who I purchased it from took it into the back and resized it and I was out the door. When I inspected it when I got home, I noticed she put a decent sized scratch in the end link trying to grab the clasp pins. I figured more care would of been given considering the cost alone of just one replacement link.

So what would you do in my situation? Should I chalk this up as to just the battle scars of resizing and it'll always be hidden under the clasp so let it go, or take it back and have them replace the end link? (also still within my return period).

You took your watch into a Dealer to have the micro-adjust springbar moved a notch or two???

Opinions will vary. I can only tell you what I personally did when my AD scratched one of the links on my new Explorer: nothing. It's collected many more since then.

and to have a link re-added, yes. They're around the corner from my house.

I would do nothing.

Or if you are desperate, it's a 30 second job to fix.

That’s just a superficial scratch that will be covered by the clasp. It doesn’t surprise me that an AD did that, but I would personally let it go.
Just use a tiny screwdriver and do it yourself in the future.
If letting an AD do it, you have to be very wary of who’s doing the work. You want the person in the back wearing the magnifying headset that is maybe a gem setter, watch repairer, jewelry maker type person to do it, NOT the person that sold it to you. Even then, you need ask them to please not scratch the watch (and hold your breath a little while crossing your fingers, lol).

Go back to the AD and have it polished lightly

Same thing happened to me when purchased my Sub - the AD watchmaker scratched the clasp when adjusting the bracelet. Noticed it only a couple of days later. Did nothing, it will get polished out when I take the watch for service in about 10 years’ time.

Can you even be certain it wasn’t preexisting from wear and either rubbing surfaces or the edge of the clasp? I can’t be sure looking at it and could honestly believe either.

I wouldn’t sweat about it, accidents happen but I would certainly let her know or whoever was working on it know. They need to be a tad more careful...

It’s part of the customer service, as “professionals” they should be able to perform a baisc job without damaging a new watch. That lack of attention is pretty subpar.

AD is around the corner and you’re not happy.... why not go there and ask them how they could address it and then decide?

On a part of the bracelet that is protected by the clasp at all times? It looks obvious to me that is hand slipped while trying to compress the spring bar.

I would not have let a ham handed counter person/ sales clerk size a watch in the first place.

AD’s are a joke when it comes to touching any watch unless they have a professionally certified Rolex watchmaker.. which 99% have just a “jeweler in the back” or the salesperson does it themself.. hard pass.

That's the risk you take letting someone else touch your watch. Learn to do it yourself.

Is this your first luxury watch- it’s understandable. It’s worth remembering that unless you never ever wear it, then things will happen. It is disappointing that it happened with your AD. I would let it go..

It is, unless you consider a Montblanc in that category. Thanks for the understanding and ya will let this one go with more that will happen... at least its hidden. That first one always hurts the most, and when it's not even your fault!

I beg to differ.......I would take it back and let them fix it. From the length of the scratch looks like the tool they used slipped and caused the scratch.
