116520 vs 16520
Will the 116520 sky rocket in price like the zenith movement Daytona ? And will it become a collectors watch in the future ?
Thinking of buying one of them Don’t no which one I want Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's a possibility, the SS Daytona has a history of steady appreciation over time, would not be surprised if the 116520 follows in the footsteps of the 16520 over the course of the next 25-30 years. Are you buying to wear, for investment?

The 116520 will always have value as a beautifully designed watch. With the 16520’s going for almost $30k and 116500’s past the $20k mark, the 116520’s are a bargain.
Luckily I bought both white and black 116520’s at retail. The white is my most worn watch. The black is gorgeous but not as legible. Either 116520 is a great watch, that’s why it should be a safe buy. |

x2! A bargain right now, it's pretty much a C500 without the ceramic bezel. I love to have a 16520 but too much $$$ for me now

For the money, I would pick up a complete set 116520, wear it and watch it appreciate over time

I'm going to be a bit contrarian here at the risk of upsetting other 116520 owners. The 116520 was produced over a much longer period after Rolex developed its own in house movement. In contrast, the 16520 was limited in supply from the get go, due to issues in sourcing adequate movements from Zenith.
Scarcity points to 16520 appreciating at a much faster rate, but then again you never know! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk |

do it. Daytona is a must have watch....there is a reason why the most expensive watch is the Daytona :)
if you don't double your money in 3 years on a watch, then don't waste your money on a watch. |

If I recall correctly, there was some panic selling of the 116520 when the 116500 was released. Thoughts were that the price would tank. I am sure I remember people offering them for sale for USD8,000.... Unless I am going completely mad ( highly possible ).
Nonetheless they have certainly appreciated in the past few years. I paid retail down under AUD13,350 in 2013 - and they are fetching in the mid AUD $20,000's now - if you can find one in Australia |

Both are great choices but finding in collector condition is near impossible for the zenith so the 116520 is more attainable. I own and love both. The 116520 has more heft and weight to it if you care about that

Yes, it was around 8-9K. I had a post asking for opinions to choose 116520 or wait for 116500. I ended up waiting and regret now. Less than $9K was no brainer!!

I was thinking that too, but then remembered the absurd prices of the older Pepsi models which are in absolutely positively no way scarce what so ever and have ballooned in prices beyond belief. These things can be hard to predict! |

But In the end, the prices of Rolex has not been tied to any sense of rationality, so who really knows lol. |

I'm a big 116520 fan. It, like the SD4K, is one of the very few watches to combine the nicer modern updates with proportions that aren't terrible. That's why I bought mine. |

The SD has always sold poorly and it has nothing to due with lacking an absurdly fat case. It lacked the date bubble and was much more expensive than the similar looking Sub. |

I don't think any Daytona is a bargain. I bought one because I collect chronographs. The Daytona cost more than my other four chronographs combined.
