Tudor Black Bay Chrono....thoughts?

Anyone have a Tudor Black Bay Chrono?....looks a decent watch with an in house moment instead of the older ETA, seems a nice size at 41mm....am considering a few chronos at the moment, any thoughts on it.....

Good watch but hated on. I'd buy used for right over 3k. They are out there and it looks better in person.

It has a very nice movement, and it’s well built. I don’t care for the design though.

I’ll stick with my eta.

If you like this movement buy the Breitling Tudor partnered with to develop the movement.

Eliot is right. It is better in person. Just cannot get over the way the snowflake hand blocks the subdials.

More "Breitling" than "in House" but dont let that stop you. Its a good looking watch......even if the snowflake hands make the chrono unusable at 3 and 9 O'clock

Exactly the place I’m at...speedy or the Tudor

Does nothing for me visually. To me, doesn't have any of the usual Black Bay charm. Feels too much like just any other chronograph.

The movement is great, but I’d buy a speedy personally. As with most tudors it has the slab sides and is a proper hunk of steel. The speedy is a bit more elegant and refined so that would be my choice but it’s a great watch if it floats your boat.

Yes, it’s a slightly modified breitling B01 movement in there. Makes the watch pretty good value as breitlings with that movement are usually quite a bit more expensive.

The snowflake hands on a chrono really bug me. Extremely difficult to read the sub dials and I feel like Tudor could have easily solved that problem.

I've been mulling this one over, too. I actually think it looks better on the leather strap than the bracelet.

X2.....I prefer the Heritage Chronos as well.....plus you get a choice of Blue/Black/Grey dials with bracelet and a Nato strap.

Full disclosure. The Superocean Heritage II has an arrow hour hand that isn’t petite. And is more expensive, by a lot.

As Eliot said and after looking at the pre owned BB chrono market seems to present some good deals.

I just prefer tri-compax three register chronos aesthetically. I'd pick a Hesalite Speedmaster Pro over the Tudor anyday.

IMHO it’s Awesome......

I understand this watch it’s not for everyone,
But also hear a lot of complains of people that might never even seen this watch in person.

The snowflake hands block a little bit, it’s a fact,
but other chronographs also have this issue.
Mine is doing less than 1s/week out of the box and been working excellent....

One thing I can tell you is that if this would be your only chronograph,
You should consider that it only measures 45min,
This might be a deal breaker for a lot of people....











In some of the photos you can see how much does the snowflake really affects reading the hands.

Highly regarded movement

Easy to work on, but that’s why the case is massive. It’s a relatively big movement.

For the money it’s a hell of a watch.

I’ve tried it on lots of times, each time, nearly pulled the trigger. But it’s just so damm big!

It’s one chunk of metal, which for a deep diver is acceptable, even a pilots chrono. But it’s not, it’s a racing chronograph.

Considering that, it’s meant to be pretty thin and fairly small. Yet it has a movement from a large pilots watch, and it’s been transplanted into a dive watch case with dive watch / military hands. So it’s kind of a weird one / Frankenstein watch.

I wish Tudor would just go back to making great tool watches and that means the best components for the job.
