Rolex Date 34mm suggestion for skinny wrist

I have been a skinny guy all my life and I have a 15 cm circumference wrist which is roughly 5.9 inches (measured exactly). I'm considering getting a Rolex 34 Date with a leather strap. I have other models such as the Omega 36mm Seamaster mind, but I guess it is going to definitely look big on my tiny wrist! My question now is:

1. Is the Rolex 34mm date too much for my wrist?

2. Should I buy it new from an AD or look for used?

3. Silver or white for a brown leather strap?

4. Is the movement on the Date 34 a reliable one. It is the 3135 movement?

5. Can anyone give me the measurements for the Rolex 34mm Date and the 36mm Datejust (lug to lug, thickness)

I would go look at the DJ 36 mm on a bracelet. The 34 is ok but the 36 will work when properly adjusted. The secondary market is flush with them and you can save some significant money on a slightly pre-owned model that is complete with box, papers and some warranty left. White, black or blue dial are classics and will serve you for years. Good luck.

Ok I thought that for my super skinny wrist the 36 would look too big! I'm yet to try them. I will probably go to some AD with the leather strap and try both the 34 and 36 and will make a call!

1. It depends on individual preference. Some skinny lady in Asia is wearing 40mm sport model. I suggest you to try it.

2. I will buy from AD. In AD, you can try a lot of different models. Sometimes, you want to buy something but come out with other. Also you do not worry about the authenticity.

3. It comes with metal Oyster bracelet.

4. It is using 3135 movement. In my experience, it is quiet reliable.

5. No information.

1. No, the 34mm will look great. I have 6" writs and also very skinny all my life even at 40. I ultimately went with the 39mm Exp1. Here's a photo of the 34mm OP and the Exp1
2. I'm a fan of new, with full warranty in your name. 34mm OP or Date will not be hard to find.
3. I vote for the white OP, skip the date. Cleaner more modern look, brushed braclet (no center polished) gives it a more casual, sportier look.

34mm white OP. Don't listen to anyone that says 34mm is a women's watch. They don't understand what its like to hav small wrists and a small frame. The new 34mm wears much larger.

Thanks for all your suggestions! Like I said I will try both the 36 and the 34mm with the leather strap that I have right now on my NOMOS Tangente!

To all those that own the 34mm Date and the 36mm Datejust - Could you please measure the lug to lug length and post it here? If you have a vernier caliper, it is just a minute to get the measurements! So please!

Re: question 5: OP date is 42mm lug to lug, 11mm thickness. DJ 36mm is 44.5mm lug to lug, thickness same as OP date.

Regarding the diameter, when one say the Datejust 36mm is indeed 36mm in diameter, is this measurement from end to end including the bezel or just the inner case measurement?

End to end of the case not including the crown. Go try them both on. Differences in the black is the 34 date will have a solid glossy black dial while the 36 DJ will have a sunburst black dial. IMHO the 34 date is too small for the date and makes the look more crowded and ultimately appears smaller. My advice is try on both the 34 and 36 dates and OPs.

Have you considered going to a Rolex store and simply trying one on. You could draw a much better idea of fit and finish with it actually on your wrist. We cannot tell you if it works or not for you. It is purely subjective. Woman with similar sze wrists as yours wear 40 mm SS sports all day long and love them. And they look great on them. Good news is 34mm Dates are generally in stock.

As the watches you want are certainly available it is hard to argue with the try on both and make a decision plan.

34 mm OP (114200) on a similar wrist size.. Of course you can go bigger but it probably won't look too small on you..

You can def pull off a 36 mm trust me. I have a small wrist and usually wear 42mm AP without any issue. 36 mm DJ looks solid for everyday. Def buy used and save a ton of money.

At around 6 inches you can go 36mm with no problem imo. My wrist is 6.25 and I wear a daytona and SubmarinerC. Like others have said go to an AD or a used dealer and try different models on. It’s the best way to see what you like.

The 18kt datejust with black dial I posted is on my 16cm wrist. Cell phones use wide angle lens so the watch in the photo looks much larger than it actually is in real life perspective.

I have a question regarding the DJ 36mm which is this one here:

I have few questions:

1. Is this the 2019 model? I checked with the AD and they say that it is indeed 2019 model and they expect it in their stores by late summer (August or even by October)

2. They have the older version of the Datejust 36mm in stock which has the 3135 movement I guess. The price difference is just around 200 Euros for the 2019 DJ. Is it worth the wait for the 2019 model? Honestly I'm in no hurry!

Any thoughts?
