The unbearable lightness of being shallow

Another FunTitle (tm) by the GoodWatch.

\start rant

At the end of this month, some small savings comes available to me and I've compiled a short-list of the LCD TV and home cinema set I'm going to buy. But that's not my main reason of shallow joy

I once owned a PC and I absolutely loved to tinker with firmware, drivers, updates, etc. I scoured the Internet for new firmware upgrades on a regular basis.

And guess what? All the equipment I'm going to purchase, from the TV to the home cinema system has regular firmware upgrades! The insanity of it all, a TV that receives firmware upgrades through the Internet! Oh yeah! I can't wait

I've had two firmware updates on my Blu Ray and one on my Sony XBR LCD TV. You burn a DVD for the Blu Ray, and for the TV you copy the files to a thumb drive which you then plug into a USB port in the back. Pretty cool.

The TV even has a network port! So that you can stream video from a DNLA source. And my NAS is a DNLA server Even DiVX and WMA. Heh, heh.

All this technology just to watch Porn. What has become of all out us. I shall go back to my studies of String Theory and Wormholes and the differenct between two and three dimensional time. It would be a hoot for an old redneck to figure out the theory of everything.
