Strange stains on TT clasp

Hi guys ,

Looking at the clasp of my TT sub I notice three bubble like dots on the clasp.
I did check and there is no plastic left on the gold center strip from when it was new. There is some plastic left on the small steel parts. What could these stains be? And how do I get rid of them?

That is plastic, just removed it.

If goof-off or goo-gone doesn’t work, you might need a polishing of that segment.

Not recommending that right now because you will pick up plenty of scratches before the next service is due.

It will be addressed by RSC or indie watchmaker at that time.

Some members use Cape Cod Cloths to polish their watch - but I’d say don’t for the reasons above.

Yup! That’s what it looks like to me!

You are right, looks like it's tarnished above the crown as well. Is it normal for gold to tarnish this easily and quickly?
The watch has barely been worn

if you wear the watch enough, the clasp will be severely scratched in a few months and you wont notice the blemishes..

my TT has begun picking up scratches on the links too -- i dont think there is any way to avoid it if you daily the watch.

It’s a little hard to tell, but it looks like the plastic may still be on this clasp from when the watch was new. I’d recommend removing it and washing the watch

They look like hard water stains or mineral deposits imo. Give WristClean a try. If that doesn't work, check out Liquinox cleaner. That said you may want to get some input from an expert if Liquinox should be limited to bracelet only as it is in ultra sonic cleaners. You can just soak, but I'd recommend keeping the case itself dry and only soaking the clasp.

Adhesive or material from the plastic? Have you tried wiping it with IPA to see if it can be easily removed?

Very good point it very well could be adhesive from the stickers as well
