116518ln

Recently got the itch for 116518LN on oysterflex. I have never been a fan of yellow gold and do not own any yellow gold pieces. This one has grown on me and I think looks spectacular with the yellow racing dials.

Has anyone who dislikes yellow gold purchased one and what are your thoughts?

I wouldn’t consider the one with the gold bracelet, but for some reason think that due to the oysterflex the gold blends in and isn’t too flashy. Looking for opinions from anyone who’s in a similar boat. Thanks in advance.

YG is the BEST gold. I've owned all the different types and YG is king.

Love YG, have owned a 116518 on OF. Looks good, not as good as the 116519 steel dial on OF. (IMO) I feel the YG on a Daytona, & most other Rolex, are better suited to having a full YG bracelet. Rolex does it very well....Daytona, DD40, SubC, etc....

The model you are considering is awesome with YG and oysterflex. I prefer the ceramic bezel.

I'm actually waiting for Rolex to offer a full YG Daytona on Bracelet with ceramic bezel. I'm holding off for that.

Love the gold Daytona's on OF. My favorite Daytona, by far. Like Richard, I tend to like the WG version a little better. IMO it seems the WG blends in better with the strap, but, there's no arguing how good the YG looks. It's a stunner.

I am a big fan of that particular oysterflex daytona, it's on my shortlist and would be my first PM model. All of the oysterflex models look good but I feel that one is special.

Thanks guys. I myself like the white gold more, however I don’t think the dial with yellow racing dials is available in white gold.

If that ever happens I think we would see a huge correction in SS grey and second hand prices.

Tried of on was underwhelmed. I'd rather get a full PM bracelet in leui of the ceramic bezel.

I love mine. It’s gold, but the OF tones it down a little so it’s not “too gold”. For me it’s perfect. I could’ve had the white gold OF too, but was too similar to me to my 116500 white so this gave me a little more variety.
If I were getting a other gold, it’d be the green dial.
Otherwise, platinum is next.

Stunning watch, congrtulations. Did you consider the diamond markers instead? That piece is on my short list.

I love the new Daytona's on OF but if I were to rank them in order, I prefer the YG followed by the WG then the rose. I have been eyeing the 116518 for some time. It is sporty yet elegant due to the warm yellow gold. It gives a little splash but not overwhelming but can be sporty as well. If they made an all gold Daytona with a ceramic dial, then I would be all in on that model.

I own a 116515 and have looked at both the white and yellow gold versions before deciding on this piece. Although I am in the camp where I love white gold, the 519 did nothing for me and did not care for it. It also did not look better or more special than my previous 116500ln where the black lacquer dials paired with a full bracelet had enough details to outshine the 519. I liked both the 518 and the 515 but ultimately decided on rose because it looked better on me (dark yellow skin). Once you try the watches on I think you'll know exactly what you want.

I am waiting on a 116518 with the gold dial and black sub-dials like the one GsurgBM posted above. I have see. It in person a few times, once in a display case next to the 116519 white gold oysterflex. It is perfect!

I hope that once I get it, I can take a year or two off buying new watches.

I know I am reviving this thread, but had a UK AD let me know that they have got stock of the 116518LN for when lockdown lifts.... it is the champagne dial with diamond dial. What are peoples thoughts on any possible discount as it is a PM watch?...I have previous purchase history, albeit for a Steel Datejust II which I still own.
