I didn't mind them. However, I found it quite insulting when it was implied that any excursion outside of the USA was a precursor to danger. The fact that the country to be visited had a less crime and murder rate than the US just added salt to the wound.

I apologise if I have inadvertently just got this thread "locked," it was not my intent.

They are much better than the stupid scarcity threads, which make WISs sound like spoiled little children who can't get what they want for Christmas.

Apparently it's not safe to visit your house this afternoon Dave. People fear what they don't know. Americans know the US and have become numbed to the dangers here by the constant hum of violent crime stories in the news and on TV dramas. Whereas, other countries are new and uncertain grounds. It doesn't hurt to ask, it only hurts when they phrase the question badly.

Is it safe to use toilet paper with a Rolex on? Does the methane corrode 904L steel?

Is it safe to take on vacation to a luxury resort?

If so, is it safe to swim with my Rolex submariner on?

If so, can I go in the ocean?

If so, and after I risk my tool watch in the 4’ of water I go in, is it safe to wear out to dinner with other people?

After dinner, can I have hot coffee with it on?

After my caffeine high, can I sleep in my Rolex?

And upon a successful nights sleep, can I play golf in it? If not, can I play tennis?

On the plane back, is it safe to go through customers?

After I get back from vacation, is it safe to wear it into the office?

Ahhhhh, how I miss the days!!

They're part of TRF and never went away. People may rephrase it but keep asking the same thing.

Exactly! How many times has this question been asked on this forum, and we (almost all) poo-pooed the member, or told her to use the search function?

You know I was thinking about that thread while swimming laps with my TT DJ yesterday!
