The latest news is that the car has been recovered though the perp is still at large.

This has to rank as “thicker than milkshake” on the dumbness scale of criminal enterprise. Good luck selling this sort of rare classic on the black market

That's a bold move for a test drive! Glad the car was recovered. I can only imagine what was going through the poor guys head as his car jetted off....

When my dad and I test drove a V10, R8 a few years ago the first thing my dad asked was why there was almost no gas in it. The response was that if someone stole it, they weren’t getting too far!! I’ll never forget that.

OMG! That is my absolute favorite Ferrari. The F40 stole the limelight from the 288, but I think the 288 is just a whole heck alot sexier.
