Anyone else have a strong preference towards metal bracelets?

Hello all, still a little new around here, so I'm interested in how people feel about bracelets..

I really prefer metal bracelets, to either leather or rubber straps...I just love the way the weight of the bracelet naturally balances out the weight of the case. Not to mention, the incredibly satisfying tactile sensation of clasping it shut each morning Also knowing that splashing it when i wash my hands will cause no damage! This preference actually almost eliminates much of my desire for watches that I academically appreciate, such as Patek, Dufour, Voutilainen, and other haute manufactures, that utilize, principally, leather straps.

I do have incredible respect for Patek, Dufour, and Voutilainen btw.

Just wondering if anyone else shares these sentiments regarding the metal bracelet.

I would have to say I prefer the metal bracelets over leather or rubber any day.

it depends on the watch, but in general i prefer a leather band for dress and a metal bracelet for sports.

Concur. They both have there place. No question, if you're going to get it wet (sweat or otherwise) the bracelet is best, but the leather straps, especially on a dress watch look better. My Lange strap is 4 years old and I am only now thinking about changing it as it's beginning to show light wear, but then again the patina is very much nicer than on a new strap. Of course, it's in a rotation with lots of watches so I'm sure I'd have never gotten this lifespan with daily wear.

I'm a self confessed bracelet guy. Recently though, I've realized the joys of zulu straps. Rubber is too hot and uncomfortable. Leather looks nice but won't hold up over time. Nice on a dress watch though.

I generally prefer the look and feel of metal bracelets, but some watches look better on leather straps. I prefer leather for 'desk work' as it's more comfortable to rest on a desk while typing, etc.

I have no love for rubber straps, or for 'deployant' clasps, both of which I have found uncomfortable & rather annoying so far. I'm sure there are some good ones out there though...

Cheers

I have a rubber strap on my Omega Speedmaster MKII. It looks nicer (IMHO) than the bracelet. For casual watches bracelets are OK, but for dress only a black strap will do.

To me it depends on the watch. On a Rolex diffinatly metal. I do like the look and feel of a nice alligator strap on some of my watches. The watch that I like both ways is my Cartier roadster. The metal band is top knotch and feels great, but when I switch it to its alligator with the deployant it really looks good as well.

These guys said it best, although I prefer a bracelet on all Rolex Oysters.

Daily wear for me means metal. If/when I ever get a dress watch (JLC, PP, etc.) it will be on leather. I hope to have a deployant clasp on the strap over a buckle.

I thought that I would never move away from a bracelet fitted watch.
That is until I tried on a strap. And found that they were really comfortable to wear.

It also dawned on me, that with a strap unlike a bracelet, I no longer had the hair on my arm getting caught up between the links, which was sometimes a "Pain" If you get my drift!

I like metal bracelets too I just love the feel, the look and the weight that comes with them.

Yes I feel the same also ! Bracelets on a timepiece make the watch so complete !
I would choose an 18k bracelet on a watch than a rubber or leather strap most of the time

I like to change things up and wear the bracelets, leather straps on dressier watches, natos on sports. Just gives the watches totally different looks.

I haven't worn a leather/rubber strap for many years. Last may well have been my calculator Casio back in grade school- steel just feels better. I am looking into a NATO strap for my Citizen, though.

Metal bracelets, and Nato's do the trick for me. I like rubber during the Winter. Leather doesn't do it for me. There are some watch bands that are old baseball gloves that are pretty cool. I wouldn't mind having a vintage MLB players glove made into a band.

Metal bracelet is my favorite.

Strongly prefer metal bracelets, however, the exception is the black croc strap I have for my Speedmaster Pro.

Metal bracelet every time and would never wear a leather strap. I like the way Rolex have got the Oyster,Jubilee and President to pick from to change the look but a leather strap is ....well a leather strap.

I always prefer a metal bracelet over a strap (be it leather, or rubber) any day of the week. I'm just not a rubber/leather guy I guess lol
