Watch spotting in NYC

We’ve been in Manhattan a few days and one in Brooklyn. I’ve been surprised how few Rolexes I’ve spotted. The “Submariner is everywhere” I always hear about seems pretty overblown. It’s definitely the model I’ve seen the most, but certainly not everywhere.

I’ve seen:

1 x 40mm Explorer II
2 x Hulks
2 x Bluesy’s
2 x Daytona’s (one steel and one ceramic on a really young girl)
1 x Z Blue Milgauss (my first ever Milgauss in the wild)
2 x GMT’s (5 digit and 6 digit black)
2 x DJ’s)
10 x black Submariner’s

2 x Royal Oak Offshore’s

The most stunning by a mile was the Z Blue Milgauss, although the black GMT was stunning too.

I stopped by Tourneau (Salesforce Building). That was a blast. Really nice sales lady there. I fell in love with a JLC Master Control with date. Beautiful in person.

I also got to handle and try on an 114270 Explorer. I really liked it, but it’s definitely too small for my tastes. At least I know now.

Overall it’s been a lot of fun checking out the city and checking out watches!

Sounds about right - I see tons of Rolex when I’m in NYC. Go out to the Hamptons if you want to see that on steroids....

thats just in ONE display! I know the place you are talking about. SO many "iced" out watches as well

if you like drooling over windows you can spend a little while walking down both sides of the street!

What were you wearing? Like most of us on here, we spot every nice watch within 50 feet.

If you see an obvious tourist waiting for the walk sign to illuminate, wearing a black 42mm Explorer II, stop me and say hello!

I was there a couple of weeks ago and outside of watch stores only noticed maybe half a dozen Datejusts on both men and women. Both of the new Watches of Switzerland locations in Soho and Hudson Yards are very nice stores.
Had a nice sparkling water at the Hudson Yards bar and tried on a couple of Yachtmasters (SS blue dial 40m, and RG on Oysterflex.) While chatting with the salesman a guy held up the catalogue with the BLRO on the cover and asked if they had one of them to look at. The salesman said “sorry, none in stock, but the gentleman here has one on his wrist.” We all laughed a bit and I said “not for sale.”

I’ve noticed a ton more Rolexes on wrists in NYC as well. I’ve also seen a bunch of fake ones for sale in Chinatown. Wouldn’t be surprised if some of the OP sightings were knockoffs.

Surprised that the Subs took the lead, but also makes me smile that the YM is still rare in person.

I live in NYC, allot of high end watches, but Miami has way more than here. Although I saw two guys today wearing a Patek 5980r here In Queens (not in the same place)so I guess it just depends where you are.

214270 at 39mm much better on the wrist IMO.

Live with Kelly and Ryan is a daily tv show filmed in NYC. Ryan has been sporting the PepsiC jubilee lately. It looks damn good I must say.

At a quick glance I’m pretty sure one of the Bluesy’s was a knockoff.

It's so true, like I've said about it before, it's like the watch is alive.

It’s strange. I always hear folks say they see so many there but I never do. Don’t think I ever saw one. But I’ll see dozens a day when home in Florida.
