That's insane and makes you wonder how far they'll be willing to take this. So much undisclosed but at least this part was a bit helpful:

Never have BT/location services running when not absolutely needed. Apps get only permission to use those functions they absolutely need to work the way I need them to work.
What I consider the real "problem", and I'm not really wearing a tin foil hat, is that I find that I'm not trusting any of these settings anymore at all. And reports of how some companies try to sneak past those settings/ take the if it's not prohibited, it's ok approach - as long as we burry it somewhere deep down in our TOS doesn't help either. Kind regards, Oliver

It’s how the Rolex ADs know you left the house so they can stash all the S/S models in the back room

They already have a profile on you and there is no way to stop the Data Collection. Every digital move you make is part of who you are now... But who is to say you can't change. Just start developing a alter Data Ego buy searching and shopping for dumb stuff you don't give a crap about and maybe we can confuse the data collectors? Not likely but might be a fun exercise.

When I had an internship at Daytona speedway I learned about this. They were installing them. If you downloaded daytona's app they would send you notifications. Lets say stand a had a long line and you were by stand b had no wait. If you were by stand a they would send you a notification to go to stand b since there was no wait. Also if you bought lots of hot dogs at the track they have a record. So the next time you visit the speedway they could send you a coupon for 20% off if you bought a hot dog and drink. A lot of sports stadiums are adding this.

The NSA can track your car with your EZ-Pass, even when you're not going through a toll plaza. Nothing surprises me with surveillance. We're living in a Minority Report world.

I switch off location services unless using the maps. You also have to watch out for ‘significant locations ‘ within the system services menu of the iPhone. There are so many tricks for tracking ! I also use a VPN.

is it true that a satellite can zoom in close up on any one of us if needed, but its not allowed to be used?
I thought i noticed that after talking on the phone, things that were related to my conversation were cropping up on my viewing suggestions.......or did i imagine it? i also heard that new cars will have a tracking device wired into the loom, again i dont know if this is true. |

Does use of a VPN cause any problems with TRF?

Surveillance is everywhere now though. Cameras and facial recognition equipment saturate large cities. You are constantly watched, whether by government or commercial entities. And don't discount your phone and in home IOT devices (e.g. Amazon's Alexa). Terms of service allow apps and devices to spy on you. Phone apps like Tapatalk spy on you constantly and report back to advertisers. When you click accept on their TOS you sign yourself up to be spied on. |

i wonder when enough is enough, i wonder if people will look back and say that it was all worth it. i really like being able to do innocent things privately, maybe others dont share this same normality. |

Location is always off unless I'm driving using maps. BT is always on because I'm usually on the phone driving to and from work. I went to BJ's last night and bought baby wipes. When I came home and was scrolling on my phone, an ad for the same brand of diapers popped up.

I can understand that some people want to live in complete privacy or even as a recluse and in that case don’t use a smart phone (or at least don't allow certain apps) and go out in a disguise.
I don’t do anything I’m ashamed of or intentionally dishonestly (apart from perhaps speeding on the motorway.) If these ‘spying’ apps can make my queuing shorter or guide me to a product I may want or could be cheaper – I’m up for it. If the apps become more sinister, I will reappraise my view |

What you don't know can't hurt you.
Or can it. It's funny/ironic that Apple had the famous anti 1984 commercial and they turn out to be the Big Brother enabler. |

Soon the movie “The Firm” will be a reality for all.
