A dream came true, pawnshop story
I hit the pawn shops around town often. I have a few hobbies (watches, guitar, shooting, hi fi) and you never know what you'll find.
Of course the dream of dreams is to find a Rolex at a bargain price has always been in the back of my mind but in these days of the handheld knowledge of the universe, the chances if that are greatly diminished. On the way to our Father's Day dinner I was running early so I detoured to a pawn shop that had yielded me some great bargains 8n the past. I hit the jewelry counter and nothing. Nada. Oh well Two aisles over is a junk section with miscellaneous cheap crap and lots and lots of cheap watches. 2 of these cheap watches were "Rolexes". One the absolute worst Canal Street Sub copy I've ever seen. Next to that was this 16013. Tagged at $150.00. My heart started pounding out of my chest. I could see through the glass this was no Canal Street garbage. I waited patiently, asked to see it. Immediately said I'll take it...and asked if I could put it on. Didn't want someone else to see it. The bracelet is tired and worn but be assured, I am NOT complaining. It's a 14k model that matches the 16013 my father bought new in 1984. I'm still in shock over this one. I've literally dreamt this scenario. CHECK THE PAWN SHOPS. it can happen. With pop's |
