Stopped by AD in Scarsdale, NY

I stopped by Wilson & Son's and spoke to Matt Wilson yesterday and I have to say, what a nice guy! I really enjoyed speaking with him and learning about the current state of the watch market and the difference from the older days. I recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Matt and his brother run their business with the highest integrity and treat people with respect.

He had a beautiful showcase that was modern and had a open configuration, he explained he loved this configuration as he can come around an shake people hands. He had a beautiful collection of scotch/whisky a whole shelf from top to bottom. Nice touch as you can have a nice drink after a purchase. His whole staff was very knowledgable and nice.

Ok you’re getting warmer. Whiskey-forums.com

How about the primary product? Rolex watches? Did they have any? What did you see? Any photos? This AD had watches beyond whiskey?

Show cases were typical to most AD's these days. He had a Sea Dweller 44 all other were PM pieces. I did not take any pictures unfortunately but I plan to stop there from time to time

What you think he should have got offered a tour of the Rolex factory?! LOL

OP, glad you found an AD who will hopefully work with you.
I am lucky to have a local independent AD who helps me with this hobby.

ADs can be nice all they want but they will NEVER tell you the truth about things. Things like Rolex telling them not to display certain watches, things like the watches they have stashed away in the safe and who they sell them to.

Ok - thanks for the heads up that the owners are nice but, anything of any substance to share? My idea of a “nice” AD is one who sells me the watch I seek. Is that happy ending coming in a later post OP or are you just saying that you met two guys you've categorized as nice?

He took down my information I told him I would like to add a Hulk to my collection. He did have a Sea dweller 44m in his showcase. Which I was impressed about

Did they have other brands in stock? Toony recommended them for service a couple months back, but I wasn't able to get up there at the time. Another member also mentioned that the service included the two year Rolex warrantee, so I'm inclined to make it there next time I need a service.

Thank you! Thats right I am very glad to have started a relationship with a local AD that hopefully could help me in the future. I intend to build my relationship over the next coming years and hopefully it will lead me to the pieces I want to add to my collection.

Stopped by AD in Scarsdale, NY

I spoke to them on the phone and through email also. They did seem like nice guys, but that deepsea they have in stock is actually a preowned JC 116660, and are selling it over priced even in the grey market value.

Thanks for the heads up. You mean they are nice because they didn’t ridicule customers for asking about Rolex watches?

All of us will check them out. Hopefully this does not impact your queue.

I placed 2 posts about them recently, in relation to availability and service.
I posted on this forum they had an Explorer II Polar, but no one on the forum bit, they sold it to a repeat customer. Just had my 16570 full serviced at Wilson and Sons, they did a great job and it comes with a 2 year RSC warranty. They are all pleasant people to talk to, however, I do get the sense they are not bringing out on display the hot models, they are spoken for by repeat customers. Can't blame them.

That has to be a tough AD to get in with - A LOT of competition with their customer base.

I can't blame them for selling the Deepsea over priced as they are in one of the wealthiest towns in the US.
