Any ladies here that can help me choose for my wife ?

Hello,

help please,

I am, on this coming Saturday going to buy my wife a replacement for he ancient 26mm Oyster perpetual date.

She likes the model 178274
31mm
Oystersteel and White gold fluted bezel
White Mother of Pearl dial with Romans.

My AD has the watch in stock and also BOTH bracelets

That was the easy bit ..

Its the bracelet she has a problem with ...

Oyster or Jubilee ??

Which one for her to choose and why.

I should add that this will be here everyday watch. She has plenty of other watches for dressing up, Formal and weekend smart.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would most definitely get her the oyster bracelet. It looks great in combination with the fluted bezel, and it doesn’t come across as the stereotypical Rolex. The jubilee will make her look and feel older, while the oyster has a younger, slightly toolish vibe, while still being dressy with the PCLs. It’ll be a much more original and fresher choice.

My wife chose the oyster over the jubilee in that exact model. More sporty for everyday she said.

I'd choose the jubilee with the MOP/fluted combo. Either way, it's a beautiful gift which I'm sure she will enjoy. Good luck!

My wife prefers jubilee far over the oyster bracelet. Just her personal preference

Same same when we bought the pairing DJ - she associated the oyster to be on the masculine side.

worse come to worse - you can get it changed if she really has strong preference for the option that you didn't choose I suppose?

Hi Charles,

Nice choice,

After checking out your DJ options I think the combination your wife has chosen looks best on the jubilee bracelet but as has been said there is no bad choice between the two bracelet styles.

For our engagement, I bought my wife a 31mm DJ SS with diamond anniversary dial, fluted bezel and oyster bracelet.
Last year, I bought her a 36mm SS DJ with diamond bezel and diamond MOP dial with jubilee bracelet. The jubilee bracelet plays much nicer with a diamond bezel.
If going with a fluted bezel, I would go with oyster bracelet. She switches off on both of them still and does not prefer one more or considers one of them more dressier than the other. But my opinions are the same as others that jubilee is dressier, and oyster sportier. Can't go wrong with either, but I think the jubilee is more feminine and proper for a diamond bezel DJ.

My wife went for fluted bezel with super jubilee on her Datejust with diamond VI dial. Looks fantastic. She loves it.

Best to ask your wife. I've learned the hard way that I don't necessarily have the same taste in jewelry as she does. As a rule, anything over $100 we shop together for. She ends up getting exactly what she wants and wears it. Otherwise she will probably be thankful and it will spend its life in a jewelry box.

Under $100 can be a surprise, over $100 we shop together. Happy wife, happy life.

Happy wife, happy life.
I have asked her, Several times.
she has been to an AD and tried both on.
But, Still she is undecided.
All this week she has been saying Oyster.
Yesterday she started to say Jubilee.
This morning she said .. Ohhh I don't know so i showed her this thread.
Then she said Definitely Jubilee and within 2 mins said .. No oyster !

All I can add for folks to know a bit more is that neither of us are young .. We are both in our 60's.

My wife has a dj36 with pink dial and fluted bezel. I got both bracelets so she can change, but 99% of time she loves it on jubilee. She doesn’t baby her watch so theboyster shows scratches.

I think the oyster looks a bit more sporty/contemporary, the jubilee is a little more dressy.

For a daily driver, I'd go oyster. Depends on the lady, why not just ask her?

My girl was dead set on jubilee but she had however hard time deciding size. After a couple of visits to the AD she finally settled on a 31mm with oyster bracelet. She found that on the smaller ones, 28 and 31 she preferred oyster but on 36 jubilee.

I think for a woman in her 60's the dressier look of a jubilee might look better?
