First Rolex to buy (15 years old)

Hey guys! Dreaming with my first Rolex for a long time, and now I’m saving a few bucks (like ~5k-6k) to buy my watch! Searching for a daily watch and sports look, I love the 5 digit models..... I’m thinking on this models:

Sub 16610LN
Explorer II 16570 Polar
Sub 14060
Explorer I 14270
Explorer I 214270

SOTC:
IWC Aquatimer 2000
Breitling Aerospace
Tag Heuer Calibre S
And maybe, if my dad gift me......
Rolex Oyster Date machined bezel (don’t know the ref)

What do you guys think would be the most appropriate to me?

16610LN - date, timing function (rotating bezel), black dial goes with everything- that gets my vote. 16570 is a close 2nd but a rotating bezel is handy, and Exp 2 doesn’t have one.

I thought about the explorer, because of the GMT function, but don’t know if this would be NECESSARY, but still being very cool!!!

Can't go wrong with any of the models you mentioned. Sub is definitely the quintessential Rolex. Explorer 1 is a little more low key and understated. Get the one that you think you'll enjoy the most and that you'll be comfortable wearing. Can't wait to see which one you choose. Good luck with your evaluation process.

Love both models, thought about the Explorer, because I live in Brazil (not so safe to wear a Rolex) and the Explorer doesn’t have the Rolex Look, and is easy to wear too.

Cant be that long a time lol

My vote would be the nd sub or the explorer, is and always will be classics
The tip is to be patient and to not rush into it

That said, if i was 15 all over again, i would keep saving and use it as a house deposit in your mid/late twenties, 5k is a huge amount of money and if you keep saving youll be years ahead of your peers

Thanks for the tip, thought about saving for a car. I love the Mercedes Class A, here in Brazil, a pre owned of 3 years, costs like USD20k, and I already have a car deposit made from my grandma of USD10k, so I think it would be great save to the car, but I’m afraid that in sometime, buying Rolex become impossible...

I've always been partial to the Explorers, and the 16570 polar was my first Rolex. I'm also a big fan of the Exp1 for its understated qualities, if you dont want to stand out too much.

Haha you know what, judging from age and SOTC I reckon he doesn’t need to worry about saving for a house desposit. Nor does he have need for financial advice, someone is looking out for him.

Get an Explorer.

I knew the financial advice would be coming...I on the other hand commend your determination and willingness to save for something that could last you a lifetime. From your list I’d also suggest the Sub Date. In my day the first Rolex was usually a Datejust.

The 14060 is a downright handsome watch. I would personally go for the modern iterations.

Reminded me of my 15 year old nephew, last week I took him out to check out new car that costs $33,000 out of the door (loaded Subaru BRZ with performance packages..) and maybe he has a few hundred bucks in his name. I told him it's ok to dream just like I dreamed about a Ferrari when I was about his age and study hard to get into a good college and maybe his mom will buy for him...

I would advise to opt for the Explorer I 14270, it has a lower profile on the "radar" and so is much less recognisable as a Rolex which is safer.
Also prices are still pretty good for now but they already are rising so should you ever need to get some funds you might get a pretty profit on it.

Whichever one you pick, make sure you don't feel like you are 'settling'. The sub would be my pick, personally also with box and papers.
The EXP2 is a close second. Cheaper, but I just think the 5 digit sub is a perfect first Rolex.

Considering many factors, the Explorer 214270 would be hard to beat. A classic that could be owned for life, not overly flashy, available, and within budget.
