A little late in posting this, but in my defence, I've been too busy wearing my grail up until sending it back to Geneve for a service and clean up.
I made the decision due to a number of factors, I decided that with all of the uncertainty around wait lists, the fact that my name on the BLNR list meant nothing now that the new model came out and the VVIP's were repositioned above me for the 2019 model, and that although I'm next on the Submariner list (Sub, not sub date) and should have it sooner rather than later, I still had an itch to scratch with finding a Day Date in yellow gold, and, since the prices of PM pieces were in some cases lower than SS pieces, now may be the time to pull the trigger. So I hunted around for a while and finally picked this 18078 up for a fraction less than a grey dealer sells a SS sub. I had it verified at my AD as genuine and had them do a condition report then wore it for a few days to check its time keeping and to view it with new eyes every day to pick out the plus and minus points of the watch, now its getting treated to a service and I'm looking forward to getting it back and revelling in the fact that I have this time piece for a bargain price, even with the service included. Note: Rolex inspection and quote came back with a standard fee for a movement service and replacement crystal and a note to let me know the bark on the bracelet had been polished out (which I knew and was OK with at point of purchase) .... all in all, I'm a very happy camper.
