Yellow Gold Sub or White Gold Smurf

ALright, it's time to pull the trigger on another piece for my personal collection. I know I want an all gold Submariner. The tough choice is choosing between the yellow gold blue dial or the white gold smurf.

I've owned the older style 16618 Blue dial and loved it so I know I will enjoy the new ceramic version.

I've heard that the smurf blue on the white gold isn't as vibrant. Is that because it's a different blue all together or does the yellow gold make it pop more because of the contrast?

Which would you guys choose? I know it's ultimately my decision but I like hearing

Everyone's taste varies. I prefer the YG because it's quite showy. I opted for the YG Sub but I chose the black dial. Note that I have an SS Sub so the YG isn't a daily and that affects the choice.

I'm wearing my Smurf today.

The difference between WG and YG is night and day. The WG flies under the radar, while the YG screams gold. I wanted the subtlety of the Smurf, but some days I wish it had the in your face presence if it's YG brother.

I love the RG GMT.

The WG is something else all together, total stealth, but depends if you want the impact of YG/RG.

My personal style would be the WG. The YG with sunburst dial is stunning, but it definitely screams ... look at me.

I’ve seen a few WG in the wild lately and they are very under the radar but nevertheless unmistakably beautiful.

...I know it's ultimately my decision....

This - Depends on whether you want a screamer or a dreamer
Up to you since the dial-bezel combo is the same (almost)...

WG if you want to go under the radar as a daily. YG if you dont mind or like attention/or a sporty watch for formal attire and occasions.

I vote this. I had the yg/blue sub and just didn’t feel comfortable in enough situations. I went wg because I love the weight and feel of solid gold and the blue has its’ own special color in different lighting. In a perfect world I would own both, but for now, I live the Smurf!!!!

Yellow Gold Sub or White Gold Smurf

Always YG for me. I love the color.

Those who think a YG watch screams ‘look at me’ are wrong IMO. Nobody notices or cares except for enthusiasts. I’ve seen Invictas that look like gold lol

Put on both metals and see which one sings to you.

WG for me. Yellow is just too flashy for me and it doesn't go with my skin tone.

I would opt for the yellow with black dial. To me the classic Rolex and goes anywhere.

I choose the Yellow Gold Sub...

I am too old to" fly under the radar" or anywhere else for that matter.

I had the WG Sub and got bored of it. Great watch but I think I got bored with the shade of blue. I think the YG Sub with blue dial really pops. Also like the older version with black dial.

IMO the blue looks better on the WG. If I were to buy a YG sub it'd be the LN.
