Does anyone have both the no date and date submariner?
Please explain your rationale for having both?
You have to smash one to save the world, which one gets the hammer? |

Yes... have a SubC date and 14060m... subC was first and then I wanted a 5 digit so went no date as I thought it was a better pair and I always admired the simplicity of the 2-liner.
Would I get a suBC and subC date (in black)? Nope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Hi First flight , i don't own the date and no date sub but possibly a more " idiotic" combination , the two versions of the dssd , both 126660, literary nothing differentiates them but the dial.
Why i have both , i like the watch , and i consider it a "complete collection" in a small way since no other variants exist , it be much harder to collect "all" the gmt's or daytona's. if i had to smash one to save the world my james cameron would be confronted with the hammer , something about a regular plaine black no nonsense dial speaks to my soul. and i'm not done with idiotic combinations , i own two variants of the sky-d if i could have any sub now at retail i'd go for the no date , something about the dial symetry |

These two go well in rotation and they feel very different on the wrist. For me the original sub is cleaner than the date, that said you can’t go wrong with the anniversary

I have a 5 digit with date because feel like it’s better proportioned with the cyclops. Also have the 6 digit without date because it’s different enough to justify having it. 5 digit for my son one day and other one is mine. Smash one or the save the world? World is doomed.

Bought both, love SS Subs, no other rationale.
If I had to smash one with a hammer, it would be yours. |

I have 3 subs, one doesn't show the date. One is green and one is bi metal with blue dial. Yes they are all subs but they are all very different.

Yup. 16610LV and 10460M 2-liner. The Kermit would get the hammer because the 2-line ND is pretty much perfect in every regard.

Sure I have both, as well as some TT Sub Dates.. and I have a half dozen GMT's, and a couple of Exp II's, couple of Daytonas.. and quite a few more..
I don't have to explain any rationale.

Because the Sub is the best watch ever made and you can't have too many in your collection

If you wanted to be super logical, you could say if you LOVED subs on a scale of 0-10 at a 10, and say an EXPII at a 7...well then any nuance to the sub would bring lots of happiness on the wrist. If only only loved the sub design at a 5, then another model like the EXPII would fit the collection better. |

I don’t own both, but if I wasn’t irrationally sentimental about keeping my first Rolex, I’d trade my 16610 for a 14060M/4-liner in half a heart beat.

Does anyone have both the no date and date submariner?
Count me in! The five digit sub just seems to fit me the best. I have other references but the No Date in particular gets more wrist time than my other watches put together. Here’s why: 1) Purchased both from honest TRF members before prices went crazy. 2) The 16610 is SO clean for a 20 year old watch, I tend to wear it like a dress watch. That will change as it gets knocked around, as mine all do. 3) My No Date is just the right amount of worn. No concern at all when it gets bruised. I feel this reference looks better with wear! 4) The No Date bezel is a little slimmer. To me, and maybe it’s my imagination, it wears thinner. 5) No Date and (often) Nato for when I’m fishing. I get most of my dents and dings when fishing... And the of course this 16570 makes them all superfluous. Don’t ask why I’m holding the fish that way. My net was 100 yards away as I was trying to land it. Although not a Rollie, I couldn’t pass this one up. Wears like a 5 digit sub but feels heartier, like a 6 digit sub.
