Dj 41 worth trading up for?

So I have been wanting to pull the trigger on a tt Wimbledon dj 41 but I’m not sure if I want to trade up for it with my tt 36 dj circa 1995 plus cash or have both.. I love the watch I currently own i just bought it a few months ago. It’s in great condition but I feel like the hollow jubilee links and case size bother me. I don’t see a reason for 2 Djs even though my current watch was my first. I’m debating going tomorrow and trying on one in either jubilee or even oyster and seeing if I like the fit. Think it’s worth trading up my first watch for a more modern dj? I appreciate ur input thanks guys!

I like DJs in 36mm better, but since you don’t, then if your finances allow you too then yes it’s an upgrade.

You should definitely trade it in toward the Wimbledon, especially if that model is calling out to you. I've done the same thing, based on your same rationale, i.e., hollow links v. solid and more modern size. Plus you'd be gaining the greater power reserve and better clasp. I also think that, of the current DJ lineup, the Wimbledon is likely to better retain its value - especially if it's discontinued one day. My only advice (and I did this) is to look at as many websites as possible before you negotiate the trade-in amount toward the Wimbledon. You want to come armed with as much info as possible so that you can tell the AD how much you've seen the 1995 DJ going for. Same principle as when you buy a new car if you're trading in your old one.

This Wimbledon dial is quite nice. I would trade for it especially if you are not so attached to your former watch.

I forgot about the newer movement and clasp honestly. I just feel like the older djs aren’t built as well. My buddy owns a new dj with super jubilee band and it feels amazing. my band feels and sounds cheap but it’s still in good condition barely any stretch I guess it’s just being that it’s hollow and the older clasp. Ill be looking at the Wimbledon at the same place I bought my first watch so I believe they’ll only give me what I paid or near he had said toward trade ins. I like my current dj and part of me can’t justify paying so much for a watch definitely but I also feel like I can be happy with the 41 as my only watch and won’t even notice the price difference in a few months. Thanks for your input guys hopefully I come home with my first grail tomorrow!

The Wimbledon is quickly occupying a lot of my daydreams lately. Lovely piece. I don't think I could ever give up my 36mm DJs though. They are too dear to me and the quintessential Rolex in my book.

I would not trade my 36 for a 41. No way.

Pics of your current 36 on wrist, may give us a better idea for replies. I have a 41 as my daily and love it.. I say do the trade in, if you are getting anywhere near what you paid. The weight of the new band, as well as the easy link, you will not believe the difference from the older models

I would 100000000% make that trade. I have a few friends that are looking to get there first rolex and they always will show me pictures of older DJ's. Dont get me wrong they are great pieces but its those hollow links that kill it for me. And if im being honest 36m is just too small for me, which is saying something since i have an OP39. I just saw a SS wimbledon dial Rolex at my AD a few weeks back and my god was it beautiful. If i were you I would def get the TT version.

I picked up a DJ41 earlier this year. Absolutely love it. Don't think I could go back to wearing a 36 mm DJ any more. My wife has taken over my 116234 that I had in the safe.

Sorry everyone I was thinking the same here’s a picture of my current watch to get a better idea. I feel like it’s a little bit small on my wrist but maybe it’s just me in the picture it looks fine.

Yeah, looks great in the pic. But, like some has already mentioned here go for the current DJ41. The TT (rose) Wimbledon dial with jubilee is my fav too. I may be pulling the trigger one of these days myself

Every person has a different opinion as to what looks good. Usually your gut lets you know if something feels off. Hard to fight that.
I personally think the 36 is too small. You will get plenty of people to argue against that.

36 to a 41 is a worthy upgrade IMO.

Make the trade. Otherwise it's going to keep nagging you. You will forget about the money.
The TT Wimbledon is an awesome piece.
