Incoming: Rolex Explorer 214270
I picked up this baby in Cairo, Egypt the other day, right before hopping onto a flight to the US, and I couldn't be happier!
Honestly, I never ever thought I would buy this watch and I never used to look at it with any level of interest whatsoever. But lately I had started to realize that my Milgauss purchase of last year may have been a mistake (see my comment here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...&postcount=158). Don't get me wrong, the Milgauss is still a fine watch and I still have it (although I may sell)... but now I know that the Explorer is what I've really been looking for all this time. A simple watch, stainless steel, time-only, brushed not polished, a whole lot of character, just the right size, works with any strap. I love the 3-6-9, and the more I look at it the more I know that if I had to get rid of my entire collection and keep one watch, it would be this one... also the more I ask myself how I never appreciated it before. Maybe it's the current state of the Rolex market, maybe it's because I don't like the GMT-Master on a jubilee bracelet, maybe it's because I can't get a Sky-Dweller... or maybe it's just that my taste is changing Please share your thoughts on this watch and what you love or hate about it, as well as photos of your own Explorers!
